In an interview with SFGate, Star Wars creator George Lucas said his live-action Star Wars TV series planned for 2009 will be different than the updated Battlestar Galactica or Joss Whedon's Firefly. I mean, of course it will be different, those are all three different series, but it sounds like Lucas has something big in mind. He also said the new series would be more "adult" and would not focus on the Skywalkers. I'm not sure what he meant by the "adult" remark, but I imagine he plans to make softcore Star Wars porn. Trust me, they didn't even come close to exposing all the gadgets hidden inside R2-D2. The Star Wars saga is about to get hella steamy. Hells yeah. I'm hoping "more adult" means no annoying kid friendly Ewoks or Jar Jar Binks mucking things up. God those furry trolls ruined Return of the Jedi for me.

I am betting this will be simply just more of an adult drama. Like the previous coment said, less things targeted at kids and more grown up storylines. Battlestar _is_ a good example of that--certainly an adult scifi drama.

Somehow saying "my show won't be at all like these two great shows" doesn't inspire me with much confidence. But of course I'm going to check it out, and while my expectations are low, my hopes remain high.

I'm going to probably get hung out to dry and called a pariah, but I want to go over to Skywalker Ranch, grab Lucas by the...well if he had his neck still, I'd grab it, and tell him, "Dude, it's over! Let it go! She'll do it to you every time! She did it to me!"
Any remake, new series, or whatever involving Star Wars just waters the series down. It's really getting to the point where they're even running out of toy ideas. There's only so many ways to repackage Luke Skywalker until everyone realize's that there's pretty much no difference between the figures you bought in '77 and the ones you bought at Target last week.
So I can only imagine what we're going to get, because there's so many unanswered questions about Jar Jar Binks that inquiring minds want to know.
(On a side note: I am 99.99% sure that Jar Jar Binks was created to make C-3PO look cool.)
