CBS finally got around to doing something about that lingering question, "who is Keppler?" Up until a few days ago, the promotional website meant to inform viewers about the CSI cast change has been pretty bare, save for a cool picture.
The site is now fully running and even has some video clips giving viewers clues about what to expect. There are three clips posted right now and I would expect a couple more before Liev Schreiber makes his entrance in next week's first sans Grissom CSI, "Sweet Jane."
For those looking to be spoiled, read on and I'll tell you what I gathered from the three clips. Looks like Keppler might actually be worth looking forward to.
There's not too much to say about Keppler. There was no mention of him in last week's episode, so I can only hope that there's a proper explanation for why he's being brought on to the team during next week's installment. Perhaps Grissom knows him and requested him? Similar to how he recruited Sara in the first season?
From the clips, here's what we do know:
- He's from the Baltimore Police Department and apparently he's not very professional about preserving a crime scene since he had no problem touching a victim's face right in front of Catherine before the coroner cleared the body.
- Hard to say if he's married or not but it seems he doesn't have kids.
- Also, he doesn't seem to be very trustworthy and may or may not have gotten close (quickly) to Catherine. So much so that it leads Nick to take the rest of the team aside (Sara, Warrick, and Greg) and get them to create their own little sub-team where Catherine and Keppler are left out of the loop.
Keppler breaks up the team? Sounds pretty tense. I'm actually looking forward to this now.

I know the Grissom character has lead this hugely popular show for years, but it seems Peterson has just been phoning it in lately.
This show definitely needs some new blood, and while Peterson whouldn't have been my choice for the one to go, I'm looking forward to the shows comming up with Keppler.

Well , I do not care WHO or what is changing on CSI IF Grissom is gone SO AM I ! The Grissom character made the show and Petersons interacton with everyone else including the domanatrix friend he had made for varied content that was always interesting as well as well thought and written. One could easily believe that the characters really existed and lived they worked together so good... So understanding that the people at CBS as well as CSI's Talented writers wanted to keep the show number 1 and vibrant so what does it's creaters do to keep the show fresh ! Well of course ,,,, throw a hand gernade into the middle of it and get rid of the main character that makes ALL the other characters fit together and work! Makes all the sense in the wlorld! Mark my words people this will the it for CSI at least this one anyhow ! I will be suirprised if this is not the last season for it and if we see it back for another season I will be shopcked! I think we will soon be left with "H" ( Horacio Kane) and the guys in Miami! the only good CSI that will be left! Not that N.Y. version is that bad it is just that it is a cheap imatation of CSI Oh well nothing lasts forever and CVSI will be with us for years to come in rep-runs I just had hoped for more shows to see re-runs of before the cast and show disolved into the residual;s!!! I read that Grissom isn't "gone"...since he is also a producer/director etc, Petersen doesn't have to be gone. Thought he just stopped for a few weeks or so to "do a play".

What is going on??? What's the show without the Griss man? He is such an assest to the show. I look forward to just looking at him every week. If he goes, I will go too. CBS you are making a BIG mistake! Pay him at ever he wants, get he back! CSI Miami has nothing on this one. Get Grissom back!! Sheila Saunders

I did not know Peterson was leaving. Was it his choice? Or was he doing his job too well and wanted to get paid for it and was let go? Every time you guys get a good show going, you have to screw it up!!! No one will ever take his place!! I figured when he was leaving for a month and they asked the question, "Who is Keppler?" that he may be leaving the show!!!Say it ain't so Joe. Nick and Sarah came back, if your lucky maybe Peterson will too.

if tonites episode is any indication of future shows without Grissom,CSI is in trouble.Tonites show was boring with a very anti-climatic ending, very little suspense, and not finding out who "Keppler" is wasn't enuff to keep me a fan.I hope things get back to the normal suspense we have come to expect next week, as it is too early for reruns!

Well Where to start. No I don't think William Peterson is leaving for good. So calm down people he'll be back. What really pisses me of about the preview is everyone always turns on Catherine. I know she's not completely innocent and sometimes takes a different approach to Grissom. I'm sure she's doing it for the right reasons. Shame on Nick for being so quick to turn on Cath! after all she's done for him saved his butt more that once and this is the thanx she gets. Not to mention leaving her at a bar for some ditzy blonde. I hope his true character comes back. One things for sure if Marg Helgenberger " Catherines character leaves the show. So will I. I will understand if she has personal stuff to deal with. It doesn't have to be on bad terms. If the producers write off the Catherine character they will lose so much ratings and fans including me it will not only be a grave move but a really stupid one. So producers better rethink their plans if they do.

CSI Miami- is a joke!! I can't believe Michael that you rather see that stupid H and his stupid team in Miami more that the real CSI (Vegas). Bedsides having no talent -CSI Mimai is laughable and a wate of time for anyone over 18. At least CSI Vegas keeps it real without all flash and hookey lines-Give credit where credit is due!

I agree the episode last night was boring to me. I didnt get any interesting Grissom lines and riddles that I love so much. I dont even know for sure if I really even payed attention to this episode. I am curious about the decission that Nick made saying they cant trust Cath. I just wonder what is going to happen now and what will happen one Gil does return. He he going to have to get the team back together again? I dont want Catherine to become this character that is negative. I hope the next few episodes get better because if they dont, I will be watching the episodes when Grissom comes back..and not so much of the episodes where he is gone.

Long time CSI fan, long time Grissom fan. There was nothing intriguing about Keppler except for the 2 or 3 memos mentioning phone calls from "Frank". I hope the writers toss a few more crumbs next time.
Back to Grissom and the miniatures - I never thought this story line was wrapped up just because Ernie Dell committed suicide. Why? Because there was never any mention of his motive for each of the victims and the "murdered doll" in each miniature was never explained. The writers have never left such loose ends before. So glad to see that box being delivered to Grissom's desk. I'll be very, very disappointed if anyone other than Grissom opens that box.

I like CSI,Vegas then CSI New York, then CSI Miami. Unfortunately I can not watch CSI on Thursday because i have to work, however I watch all the reruns of CSI Vegas I can on my days off. But I hope what I am reading in here is not true. I agree that Grissom along with "his team", as he call them, are the reason the show is so good. Why would you want to break up a winning team? CSI Vagas is the best of the 3, please dont mess it up!!!

I read some time ago that Peterson was very tired of doing the show and had wanted to leave as early as last year. I agree that he is the most interesting character on the show, although I fear the show is taking a somewhat soap-operish turn that is very boring. I also agree with those who find the other two less than exciting. Oh well. There are always re-runs.

I do notlike this new guy. I love Grissom because he did a great job. I think that one of the CSI needed to be kick off instead of Grissom. I vote for the new CSI who just got promoted to go back to lab or be kicked out. I like all of the other character.
What is up with the CSI this week. They are running around tell lye about a case. But due to Grissom well training the CSI people are not buy it.
Bring Grissom back.

I only hope that Grissom will be back soon. The show needs him if they needed to replace someone it definetly should have been Katerine!Maybe the box waiting for Grissom is our clue that he is coming back.As far as Keppler I feel that he is there to break up the team.they might be using keppler to see which one would go beyond science to get ahead. I think they CSI will go under if Grissom does not return.

Who wants to bet twenty bucks that this "Keppler" guy is the serial killer with the creepy little crime scene diaramas. That would be an awesome twist. Especially since we all know what's sitting in that box on Grissom's desk....he's sucking up to Catherine for a reason....I bet.
Does anyone else watch Dexter? Then I'm sure you all know where I'm going with this. After all these crime shows do tend to mimic each other heavily now and then.
