Say what you want about Bill O'Reilly (and I know you will), but the man has no qualms about stepping into the ring with those who disagree with him. He's appeared on both The Daily Show and Late Show with David Letterman, so why would he be shy about appearing on The Colbert Report, a show that, in many ways, owes its existence, or at the very least, its aesthetic, to The O'Reilly Factor? I've said here before I actually liked O'Reilly before his ego outgrew him, but I still love to watch his appearances on Letterman. As annoyed as Dave seems when O'Reilly is on, you know deep down he revels in those confrontational moments.
While neither FoxNews nor Comedy Central has confirmed it, rumors are abound that O'Reilly, or "Papa Bear," as Colbert is fond of calling him, might be appearing on The Colbert Report sometime soon. Colbert, who gave a picture of O'Reilly to the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, recently returned to reclaim the picture in anticipation of an upcoming appearance by O'Reilly, or so Esten Perez, Institute of Politics Director of Communications says. O'Reilly himself received a Master in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government in 1996.

I think O'Reilly gets the fact that Colbert makes fun of him. But he thinks because it's in such an intricate way, the dumb people will think it's honoring rather than destroying.

Firstly, I'd like to say that I like O'Reilly as well. I know of the reputation that Fox News has, and had heard that O'Reilly cuts people off/has an ego/etc. but I'd never watched the Factor. Then Fox News was offered as a free preview and I took a look. For all the bad things people say, he was a pretty upstanding guy. I disagree with his political views but his show isn't terrible (there's much more content on Fox News that deserves that title, though).
Second, the man peddles his show/book/mugs/jackets/shirts/ everywhere. That's the pretense he goes on when he appears on TDS and Late Night. He's man enough to take on Colbert. Freakonomics author Steven Levitt said on his blog, "Having watched Colbert interview others, I have immense respect for his ability to find a person’s absolute weak spot." He occasionally lets the character break down, but he has such a sharp mind that he can respond to his interviewee's statements to improve his line of questioning.
Will Papa Bear go on? Who knows, but it would benefit both of them if he did.

I don't know what episodes you've been watching but he's horrible. Look on youtube for the Jeremy Glick incident and you'll see what a freaking blowhard he is. Oh and what the hell is the whole War on Christmas crap! Does any moron actually think Christianity is dying out?

I like Bill O'Reilly. Occassionally he comes off like a geek with an agenda, but I think he is really a pretty sincere, nice guy that wants to do the right thing when discussing the issues. I'd like to see him on the Colbert interview, when he's not the one in control. I wish these adults would talk, relax, listen and try to do more to get to the truth for us who are trying to make sense of it all. The issues are crucial and complex enough without everyone interjecting their bias at all cost and confusing things even more. It gets hard to discern a voice of truth when everyone is "spinning."

It's fun to watch the far left liberal sheep gather together to go after O'reilly. He does lean to the right but who wouldn't when you have the screeming, name calling, foul mouthed liberals to give you talking points every day.

Bill O'Reilly......what a big bag of Gaseous bull crap! If only the mans brains were as big as his supersized ego. The man brings new meaning to the word Blow-Hard and Hypocrite. When ever I feel a little naseous, I watch the old bloated Geezer Windbag on the Factor....just so I can upchuck quicker. Bill's only talent is Spin. He's the world's Biggest Spinner of all. I feel sorry for anyone that has to live with the monster. Can't image what it would be like living with a man that knows more than God himself (in his own mind of course) LOL

O'Reilly is nothing more then another elitist who runs this country. He preys on the stupid who watch his show and creates these hooplahs like the "War on Christmas". What a joke christians are more concerned about a store selling jesus say merry christmas then actually acting like christians. These rt wing wackos who watch his show and support the death and killing that goes on in the middle east are the opposite of Christians. In fact if Jesus walked by O'Reilly and his sheep today they would hang him and call jesus some sorta hippie socialist scum for wanting to feed and clothe the poor and help the sick and elderly. These hypocrits like O'Reilly and his watchers make me sick. The brain capacity of these people who watch him must be no more then a grapefruit. O'Reilly thinks he is some sorta beacon of light for america, but the America O'Reilly wants would resemble some rt wing fascist country where everyone is forced to look and act the same. With that being said O'reilly leads more sheep then anyone on the air today. The media is liberal?? Lmao. Thats just another rt wing wack job way of making a media that is rediculous and shallow and one that everyone knows is a joke out to be liberal. Liberal because liberalism and its tolerance and acceptance of all walks of life affects these rt wing lock and step freaks.

#10- When you talk of "Screaming, name calling, foul mouthed liberals," do you see anything even remotely disingenuous and hypocritical there? Probably not, since you are living in a parallel universe where O'Reilly's fabrications are to be taken seriously.
O'Reilly is a charlatan and a coward. He doesn't confront EVERYONE with whom he disagrees, and Keith Olbermann is proof. Heck, O'Reilly refuses to mention Keith by name, because he knows that (1) he cannot refute the countless times that Olbermann has caught him in lies and exaggerations, and (2) he is losing- make that bleeding- viewers because of Olbermann's show in the same time slot.
I can respect Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh even if I disagree with them because at least they are not pretending to be something they're not. When O'Reilly says he's "looking out for you" and independent, nothing could be further from the truth. Just like most employees of Fox News, he's looking out for his employer, which requires him to look out for the most corrupt and inept president in this nation's history.
Let me make it clear that I used to like O'Reilly, before he became a shrill, arrogant parody of himself. Coincidentally or not, I seemed to notice this change in him following the sexual harrassement suit filed by Andrea Mackis, and once it became clear that the war that he has stridently defended was a grave and costly mistake. By trying to sell mainstream America on a failed and unjust war, and on a president whose policies benefit big business at the expense of the average American, he has instead sold himself out. Good riddance, Bill-O.

I generally with O'Reilly, but do not understand his obsession with getting rid of horror movies. People LIKE to be scared, even repulsed. Honest working people who BUY a movie ticket so they can experience that creepy thrill are not criminals or perverts, and they do NOT leave the theater and go commit the acts they saw. This is one area where I completely disagree with him. Unlike rap, which does encourage youth to commit violence, horror movies are just scary stories. He needs to drop this particular battle.

The scary (and dangerous)thing about Bill O'Reilly is that occasionally he makes a good point and that fools the ignorant right-wing lemmings into thinking he's always right. He gives me nightmares. But then again so does Nancy Pelosi - but not for the same reasons!

As I said over dinner just the other evening whilst carving the fatted calf, "Right Wing Christians" is an oxymoron. Jesus was a Democrat! And no I didn't just call Conservatives "Morons," but you can get up a good HATE about it if you like...it is after all a free world! Bill O'Reilly is a snake-oil salesman masquerading as a faith healer leading his followers down a primrose path to single-minded oblivion...enjoy!

Thank God for Bill O'Reilly. He's my new hero - along with Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck. They are the only newsmen who have a handle on reality. I'm sure that the appearence on The Colbert Report will be very entertaining. But let's face it. Steven Colbert is a comedian. I fully expect him to parody O'Reilly - but Bill will be man enough to take it - and even get a few jabs in himself.
