CNN's Soledad O'Brien, anchor of American Morning, was given access to Martin Luther King Jr's private collection of writings. The writings will be featured in a five-part American Morning special titled "Words That Changed a Nation." The special will air January 8 through January 12.
The "King Papers" offer a glimpse into the mind of Martin Luther King, Jr, who advocated peaceful demonstration and civil disobedience over violent measures. The papers will also reveal some of the doubts King had as he made the arduous journey from unknown preacher to civil rights icon. King's family allowed CNN exclusive access King's collection of writings.
I think this could be interesting, though I wonder if it will reveal anything especially new. While I don't think we should ever stop reviewing history, it seems like we already know quite a bit about King. The special may be worth watching to see if King's papers bring up something brand new, or just confirm what is already common knowledge about the man.
