A friend of mine sent me this link of the fifty greatest cartoons of all time as voted on by folks in the industry back in 1994. The peeps at Cityrag scoured video sites for the cartoons and have links to all but six of the cartoons for your viewing enjoyment.
I have to say, I can't find too many things wrong with this list. Warner Bros. figures heavily on the list, naturally, but it's nice to see Popeye and Betty Boop pop up on the list as well, not to mention "The Cat Came Back," a great Canadian cartoon based on the old song of the same name.
I might have included a few more Tex Avery cartoons on the list, especially "Cellbound" and "Rock-A-Bye-Bear," and another Canadian favorite of mine, "The Big Snit." I don't quite see how "Bambi Meets Godzilla" made the list, though. I think it's hysterical, but one of the fifty greatest cartoons of all time? I can think of quite a few I'd put in its place.
Just because I can, I included a personal fave of mine that didn't make the list: "Hillbilly Hare" featuring Bugs Bunny. Watch and laugh.
UPDATE: "The Big Snit" is on the list at number 25. My bad. Thanks, swander42.

Man, you made my day with "Hillbilly Hare." Haven't seen that one in years. They just don't make 'em like that anymore...

*also adores "Hillbilly Hare"*
Unfortunately, though, I believe that that site links to a fake version of "Steamboat Willie."
