CBS has announced that, after nearly a decade of being on the air, King of Queens will end after its current season runs out in May. Now that Will & Grace and That 70s Show are out of the picture, the program is currently the longest-running sitcom on airAlthough the show still experiences some decent success in ratings and only recently got their first Emmy nomination (a nod to star Kevin James, this year), I think it's time to pull the plug. I actually used to find the show relatively enjoyable (compared to similar sitcoms like According to Jim), but the whole "Check out the fat guy with the hot chick!" thing began to wear thin a few seasons ago.
Ooh! Here's an idea: A wacky sitcom all about a fat wife and her super-hot husband. Haha, I'm just kidding... We've already seen that on Roseanne, with Roseanne Barr and that smokin' super-fox John Goodman.

It has had a good long run but some other networks would probably love to have those kinds of ratings.

Thank God.
They need to cancel all the "Fat Husband" sitcoms, except Still Standing. I think they first step would be According to Jim, if you have seen one episode you have seen them all. They then can work on "Dumb Husband" shows (aka Raymond is the perfect example), like 90% of the other sitcoms out there.

What's bothered me about the show in recent years is that there is usually a sublot that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the main plot. Usually involving Spence and either Arthur or Danny, it seems as if they're splicing in footage from another show...

Still Standing was cancelled awhile ago.
It's time for King of Queens to go away.

Have you been watching the show? Because the "fat guy/hot wife" angle has nothing to do with the main source of its comedy. Doug and Arthur are like a lazy and batshit-insane Lucy Ricardo. Episodes that set them against each other are simply riotous. Other episodes that cast Doug against Carrie's relatively bland but sassy version of the straight man tend to fall into similar patterns, but James's magical comedic style still makes them worthwhile.
"Still Standing" was underappreciated. Its brilliance was not really in the writing (which was still above average), but the casting of the three children. Three unbelievably talented actors, especially considering their young age. They always delivered some quality laughs.
"King of Queens" may have run its course, and all shows should come to an end sometime. But it's had a great run -- it's certainly not a "good riddance" situation.

Yeah, I was going to say, I haven't seen Still Standing in a while. And it was totally underappreciated. These days, it's repeated on local TV station in my area which, even though I have cable, comes in poorly.
King of Queens was originally underappreciated as well, but I think came into it's own by the time it ended up in Syndication. This year, even though it just started, seems a little strained for ideas. It perhaps is time to end it. The one thing I had noticed though, Kevin James put on a lot of weight this season (perhaps his heaviest while on the series), despite losing some 40 pounds last year.

It still is one of the funniest shows on the air -- so I hate people who say that OH it's time for it to go --like no show is allowed to be on the air for more than 4 years. The reason it is leaving, because it still pulls in decent ratings, is because of the cost of the two stars I would imagine.
It will move to mondays at 9:30 in March.

We will manage without it. No problem.
And the re-runs will probably not stop anytime soon.

This show never received the credit it deserved. Everyone was so hot on watching "Everyone Loves Raymond" and King of Queens got lost. King of Queens was much funnier than annoying Raymond whining and fighting with his wife every week. This show deserved to be nominated more and Kevin James deserved a nomination or two.
I will miss the King of Queens.......it always makes me laugh.

King of Queens has been one of the most, if not the most, enjoyable modern sitcoms on the air. I own every past season and plan on getting the current one. It seems to me that those people who comment on the 'fat guy with a hot wife' routine don't actually get (or watch) the show. The whole cast is great and the writing is hilarious. It's a shame to see such a good thing come to an end, but all things eventually do.

King of Queens has been one of my favorite comedies to date. Its so amazing how the network paired up the two main characters, and had such an amazing actor to portray a wonderful, yet very coniving father. I wish the show did not end just yet but just maybe its making room for something more.

CBS waited until late fall to air this show. But it's run its course. I think that Kevin James' character was getting a little too complacent. I thought that the 4th season was the best. The later seasons were hit and miss, but it was so funny. The big guy/slender woman concept is not so common in real life. You can't write a script on that.

This is a really great show with a talented ensemble. I really think the Kevin James-Leah Remini chemistry works splendidly. Throw in the off-beat brilliance of Jerry Stiller and you've got a run-away hit, as the last 9 years testifies to. Sadly, nothing lasts forever.
