I saw that Michelle Rodriguez was back playing Ana Lucia and my first thought was "What the hell? Have they finally made good on all that zombie talk?" Alas, it doesn't appear so. According to the Access Hollywood piece, she is appearing in a flashback. The article is spoiler free, for those of you that dodge the dirty details. The only thing it gives away is her wardrobe. How her return is received will, of course, depend on the story they are telling, but I am surprised that they are bringing her back at all. I was under the impression that most people were ok with being done with Ana Lucia. Are there Lost fans with burning Ana Lucia questions that have to be cleared up?
No word on whether or not the producers popped for a full time driver this time, but one can hope. Lost is scheduled to return from its mid-season break on February 7, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility of that getting bumped up. Week after week of fourth place finishes has a way of shuffling schedules and changing plans.

*UPDATE* Reader A points to the news on the Official Michelle Rodriguez site that says the Acess Hollywood pics are not of her, and she is not currently in Hawaii.

Ugh. I have no interest in having her return in any capacity, zombie or otherwise. Unless she appears just long enough to shoot the two new "they were there all along" characters they started to foist on us in the first 6 episodes. I'd rather see more of Libby, Boone, Eko, or even Shannon, if we have to "see dead people."
But come on, they have a huuge cast of (alive) characters, and some great actors, and they have to continually find ways to focus on other people? I don't understand why they don't spend time with the established ones that most fans want to see more of, like Hurley, Locke, Rose & Bernard, Sun & Jin, even Desmond and Ben. Nope, we need more flashbacks with dead people, or yet another "Kate runs from the law" or "Jack gets angry at his father" episode.

This may be stretching it a bit, but perhaps she's in Claire's upcoming flashback episode (episode 12)? This is complete speculation but we know that Ana Lucia was Jack's dad's bodyguard in Australia and that she had to hold him back from barging into a house screaming about wanting to see his daughter. There are already rumblings that said mystery daughter is Claire - perhaps she was in the house during the altercation outside and caught a glimpse of Christian and Ana Lucia? OK, I need a life.

Damn, but that is a nice picture you found to include there. I never felt as much hate for Ana-Lucia as many fans did, so I have no resistance to seeing her appear in a flashback.

Yeah seriously. I think I started liking her just because everyone started hating her. I like to go against the grain sometimes.
Anyways, I can't wait to see her flashback. I love seeing ex-cast members in flashbacks.

The same site [http://michelle-rodriguez.com/] also lists her as being single and makes no mention of Kristanna Loken.

Personally - I can see why her character may be back...I know flashbacks of the character "Libby" are in the works.
Then again - they are linked to the mental institute with Hurly so Ana-Lucia is un-necessary.

I am a permanently addicted LOST fan since sept 2004. Ana Lucia's character to me is fantastic, a tough no nonsense woman. Of course many people aren't going to like that character just like in the real world. As soon as a female shows strength she gets knocked down. All the other female characters on LOST are gentle pussycats, no gusto. Ana Lucia was exciting !
love ya Michelle Rodriguez /Officer Ana Lucia Cortez
I'm in the cage with Sawyer eaten fish biscuits & biscuits n gravytrain, Snowyniight of Maryland Locke's town !
