We've talked before about the new Stargate movies, and there are some rumblings and details coming out about the project. Production dates have now been set with the first movie to begin shooting in April, and the second in June. The studio is planning for a fall release, not long after the series raps up. But that isn't the best part. According to a new article at Gateworld, if DVD sales of the movies warrant it, the studio is looking to make this an ongoing franchise. It's no season 11, but it could signal a change in the way our television is delivered. In other Stargate news, IGN has an interview with Michael Shanks. They start out talking about the company he started with Christopher Judge, Slacktwaddle. Together, the two have produced a calendar and DVD of the women of sci-fi that is available to order on their website. Perfect for festivus gift giving, and it features Michael's wife Lexa Doig, who is ridiculously beautiful. Later in the interview they get in to what it means to Michael to have had this amazing run with Stargate and what it has been like working with Claudia Black. There are also some details for the end of the series and the movies, and they do contain spoilers. Good stuff, and worth a look.

The second DVD movie sounds like complete shit according to what Gateworld has. The team must go back in time to save Stargate Command because Baal messed up time. Thank god they finally ended the show before we had that as an episode.

I agree David004, I so wish that second movie gets A. Reworked to be something better or B. Scrapped and something else entirely.
My main fear is that with the supposed 3rd series coming and the rumor that the second DVD movie will bridge to the show I can see them using that plot device to reset continuity and start over with the new show. I hope that does not happen.

To be quite honest, I think Michael Shanks should stop doing the Stargate thing. It seems to me that he's a great actor but he hasn't really acted for quite some time on the show. I think it's partly because of bad writing and partly because he doesn't seem to get "pushed" by the directors.
I used to love Stargate SG1 but somewhere the show changed and I started to dislike it. There was too much romance (the horrible Sam/Jack vibes that me and many others hated) that lead to nowhere, too little character development and there was just no real plot on the show.
The season that started with Claudia Black have been surprisingly good even though I have yet not seen all of it. I did like the Ori storyline a lot and it was a joy to see Baal come back. :)
Still, enough is enough. Let Stargate die peacefully and hopefully someone talented can hire Shanks for some real acting, because I know he can do it.
