Savor it folks. It's been a long time coming, but according to TV Shows on DVD, FOX has finally released the information for the fifth season of The Shield. Check out that box art. Vic looks great, huh?
Here's the bad news. The release date has already been bumped from February 27 to March 27, which confirms that the new season won't be back until April. Notice the box though? It says "Season 5" and not "Season 5 - Part 1." Initially, FX had set season five up as a 21 episode story arc. It would appear that it's now been split. The final ten episodes of what would have been called "Season 5 - Part 2" are now season six. The show was renewed for a final seventh season.
For those who are as impatient as I am, check out this promo that ran during the season finale of Nip/Tuck. The Strike Team can't come back soon enough.

That promo's not going to get me to April, looks like I'll have to watch all 5 seasons over again now. Thanks for nothing.

if they were ready to release in february, then they should release in february. the waiting is almost enough to make me loose intrest in the show. maybe they would have better raitings if they would just get on with it. they are killing the show by putting things off. season 5 will have been over for about a year when they kick of season 6. that is too long.

The promo gave me butterflies (the kind you got back with your first kiss - no, really.) Here's the deal - I NEVER watched the Shield on TV - I Netflixed it - Season 1-4 over the course of less than 2 weeks last summer. I can't find any of Season 5 on tv anywhere...so I've been waiting for it for 6 months now and I'm dying! So it looks like I have 2 months to wait for that unless it tunrs up ON DEMAND which would rock. I will surely watch the whole thing in one sitting. Looking forward to Seasons 6 and 7. I miss Vic - my husband and I often talk about how we miss him. Whenever we hear a cartoon character that sounds like him we just exchange an "I love Vic" look. We liked him back on the Commish - so he'd already won us over.

I used to think that NYPD Blue and CSI were the two best cop shows that ever ran but when I saw the Shield I was blown away. It is absolutely amazing. Number 1 on my list. In my area they show it on Saturday night at 11:30 and the next episode on Sunday night at 12:30. The first and third weekends of each month gets me 4 episodes and I think from what I've researched its around Season 2. Anyone know of any place that sells the complete 4 or 5 already released seasons in a box set format. Nothing available up here in Canada that I can find.
