It hasn't been a good week for television-watching Christians. First, the Parent's Television Council drops the bomb that Fox has gone to number one with a bullet in the Christian-mocking competition, and now, Two and a Half Men has gone and crapped all over a Christmas carol. On the December 11th episode of Two and a Half Men, Charlie Sheen sang a "vulgar adaptation" of "Joy to the World." The American Family Association is demanding an apology for these altered lyrics:
Joy to the world, I'm getting laid;
I'm getting laid tonight.
We'll light the yule log, deck the halls and then we'll play some jingle balls.
It's been a real long wait;
this is our second date!
It's Christmas Eve, and I'm getting laid.
Sheen's character also had a take on the Christmas hymn "Gloria." As in, "Glo-oh-oh-oh-oh-ria, tonight I'm boinking Gloria!"
Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of the AFA, has accused CBS and its sponsors for paying Sheen to "mock Christ, Christmas and Christians." The AFA has called on its members to execute the traditional boycott and letter-writing campaign combo. Really, they shouldn't be so pissed about the fact that the song mocks Christmas. They should be pissed that it's not funny. Humor-wise, it's got nothing on the Christmas-themed "Dick in a Box."

I wish the media (Yea, I mean you, TV Squad.) would stop calling attention to these idiots.

It must be a depressing life to play the perpetual victim for all eternity. These groups exist to play the morality police in a world that doesn’t need or want them.

These fundamentalists (emphasis on mental) need to get laid.
We don't share your whacked values. God is not going to send you to hell because of your so-called sins. And if there is a heaven, I hope I don't have to deal with your bullshit there too.

OMG you have seriously got to be kidding me. I love Two and a Half Men and this is just rediculous.
#1 this show is riddled with sexual situations and dialogue so is it any suprise that the lyrics of a christmas song would be altered to fit the show...i think not
#2 the character is a jingle writer so seriously him switching the words to a song to match his living style is only completely fitting to the character.
#3 the show is on at 9pm, not 8pm not 8:30 but 9pm...which tells you this show is not 100% family oriented.
#4 where is the rule that u cant change the lyrics to a christmas song...is there a copywrite to these songs...i think not.
Im still stuck on the Superbowl thing that was just nuts. I was in a room full of i dont even know how many guys and 2 other girls and i was the only person who even saw what had actually happened. Not another person in the room had even noticed, it lasted about a second b4 they switched the camera.
These are a just a group of people that completely hate tv programming today...if u dont want ur kids watching something...dont own a tv, block television channels, watch tv with your children so if a situation comes up u can discuss it with them. Half the time you walk outside you see & hear stuff worse than is on tv all the time.

I was looking for my Festivus pole. I guess it was shoved up Donald E. Wildmon's behind. Nothing a lil' soap and water (Aluminum Baptism) can't handle.
I hate the AFA and the PTC and every other organization that wastes their time with this. If CBS gives an apology, I will slap a baby seal.

I am certainly not a religious nut, (can't tell you the last time I went to church.) And I love Two and a Half Men. However, the show is definitely on "the edge" in many cases, including this situation.
I DID find the lyrics very offensive when sung to a melody of a song that honors Jesus. The same would be true for any song from any religion that honors a sacred or holy person. Why not use a more appropriate song that doesn't mention the Lord, like Jingle Bells?

"Dick in a Box" was much a much funnier musical number, but the AFA is crazy. I don't have anything against christians, some of my best friends are christian. But it isn't part of my belief system and for people to act as if the whole world is obligated to believe as they do is wacko.

My suggestion is if something offends you, treat it like a fart at a tea party...
Ignore it! Or in this case, turn the channel.

I thought that was a hilarious song and a hilarious episode. If the AFA doesn't like the show then they can choose not to watch it. Its one of the highest rated sitcoms.

Don't paint all of us Christians with such broad a stroke. A lot of us have a sense of humor too.

The AFA are a bunch of wingnuts. They are boycotting Ford and Walmart because they claim the companies are "promoting the homosexual agenda" by advertising in the Advocate and Out. They protest everything that doesn't conform with their narrow view and should be ignored. Someone should put Donald Wildmon's dick in a box...and slam the lid.

I'm a staunch conservative (which seems to be an endangered species these days), and I found Dick in a Box hysterical. That, and Two and a Half Men by far is the most hilarious sitcom on TV. I disagree with what the AFA does a lot of the time because it's almost like they're drawing attention to the "problem". I guarantee ya Married With Children wouldn't have run over 10 years if Terry Rakolta hadn't drawn attention to the show with her "boycott".
Lighten up, AFA. If you watch the show, you understand the characters and you know where Charlie is coming from each week.

#12 It's "Cock in a Box" -- "Dick in a Box" doesn't make any sense.

what the hell is this site anyway? i don't know what you all are talking about really, but since we are sharing our opinions... it seems you all need a friggin life lol.. i mean.. do you just watch t.v. and then come here and talk bad about other people. Who could respect someone like that or anything that they say? I hope you all don't have children, i cant imaging what you teach them lol.
i have never actually read the bible or any other religious book but i do have a really good understanding of the laws of nature and it would actually seem that Christian people are more in line with being human than the folks posting on here or than this tv show! Anyways.. thats my opinion, it may not be right you may not agree.. but hey its America right! lol
