For those of you who don't keep up with Nip/Tuck, then you probably weren't watching last week's season finale. That would also mean that you missed out on seeing the phenomenal new promo for The Shield.
It's lengthy too. At almost a minute long and set to a very cool song ("This Night" by Black Lab according to this message board), the promo takes you through the skies of LA before it settles on Vic and Shane standing in front of Lem's grave. Sends chills down my spine. With Dirt premiering in January though, we probably won't see The Shield return until April. This is the second promo that FX has aired for the new season too. The first aired earlier this year during the premiere of Rescue Me.
Thanks to reader DanMacMan for pointing this out to us. You can watch the video after the jump.

FX can show commercials for Dirt during EVERY commercial break, but this was shown only once?? I CAN'T WAIT for this season to start.
Sadly, I am already burned out on Dirt, and I haven't even watched an episode yet!

I agree, AJ! I'm not very interested in Dirt bcs I've seen too many promos for it. Overkill on F/X's part.
Can't wait for the next season. Oh-to see if Vic ever finds out Shane's dirty little secret.

It is a great promo, but I wonder if they really are standing in front of Lem's grave as you suggest.
To me the grave looks freshly dug and *empty*. And Vic's movement at the end of the clip - kind of moving forward and down - does this suggest that one of these two will end up in a grave this season?
Just something to think about. And proof that I've already thought about it way too much.

I have to agree with Burbanked. At first I thought it was Lem's grave as well, but it's clearly an empty one as you pan in closer. And then as the camera moves past Vic's shoulder, it looks an awful lot like he leans forward to step into the grave.
Foreshadowing? I believe it absolutely is. If you remember last season's trailor, they showed all kinds of comments followed by the (words to the effect of) it was the end. They then cut to show Lem in a scene from an earlier episode. I wondered then if it was significant. I don't think anyone questions that now.
If you also tie in the rumor that this past season is actually one half of a "mega-extended" season the FX decided to divide over two years, then the other trailor from Season Four holds true as well where they came right out and said it was the beginning of the end.
As much as I wouldn't want to see Vic's character die, it's nice to see a show have the guts to end in a truly dramatic fashion. But at the same time, I'm really hoping I'm wrong...

The Shield has been renewed for one more (final) season after this one guys. So I don't think Vic moving forward at the end of the promo symbolizes his death...

if you look closely they both are falling into the grave. It's not easy to see because at first glance it looks like shane's shoulder comes out of few just because of the camera moving, but if you look closely you'll see that not only is the grave wide enough that they'd both fit(actually the perfect width for them both), but shane also begins to fall forward too.

if you watch closely both shane and vic seem to fall into the grave at the end. It's hard to catch because you only see Shane's shoulder and at first glance you think his shoulder is staying in place and the camera is just cutting it out of view but it is actually falling into the grave at the same time as vic.(if you look the grave is the perfect width for both shane and vic) maybe it symbolizes something to the affect of vic and shane are going down together(one way or another, whether it be death or jail?) idk. cant wait to find out though

Too many of you are reading way too much into this. For us it will have been over a year since the time we saw Lem die. For Vic and Shane it could be a week later. This may be Lem's grave. However I will flagrantly admit that a big appeal of this show for me is that it is very unpredictable unlike so many which are.

The shield should be given first priority. I am so sick of seeing DIRT already. How many months has it been shoved down our throat. WHY do we have to wait for this now before the Shield comes back. Its bad enough the time in between is so long. I am watching reruns on another channel of the shield. Why is it being shown on the CW and not FX???

I hope this isn't the end. I love the Shield. Vic has to find out what Shane did. It wouldn't be right if he didn't. Shane has been screwing up since the first season. Goodness I love this show!!!

Watch again to the 'falling into the grave' sequence. the grave is double wide and the both fall forward. watch their heads, they stay level with each other as they fall in

season 5 dvd set is coming march 27 so next season is expected until april, which sucks because i was hoping for it in january like they usually do. I am sursprised FX isnt airing old episodes, so i went out and bought seasons 1-4. This is by far the best show on tv, who cares about dirt or courtney cox. I am counting down the days until season 6. In an earlier report Michael Chiklis says season 6 will be 'shakepearean" and a tv critic who got to see an early viewing of the pilot says this is true and the show will go to a whole new level. I cant wait!!!

Man this is a dam tease!!!!!!!! I have been tearing up my TV Guide to find out when Season 6 starts!!! This is so unfair, I dont want to see the last episode of Season seven because that will mean the end to a great show!!!! Come on folks, lets plead with FX to see if they can keep this series going past season 7
