Remember that post I did this past weekend where I called Help Me Help You the "least publicized show of 2006?" Well, now we know why ABC hasn't publicized it at all: it looks like they're pretty much done with it.According to Cynopsis, the Ted Danson comedy has been pulled from next week's schedule, running back-to-back episodes of Big Day instead. Now, that could have been done because of the holiday, but they could have also scheduled a repeat, too. Anyway, the article states that ABC hasn't announced anything official, but there's also "no word" on when it's returning to the schedule.
As I pointed out in my Sunday post on the show, the ratings have been dismal, especially since Dancing with the Stars ended. So this isn't a big surprise.

Ah well, another decent show gets canned to make room for junk.

I never watched Becker until it went into syndication. Turned out it was a pretty decent show.
HMHY was ok and I really liked some of the characters, especially the gay guy who refused to believe he was gay. But I thought the Danson character was pretty weak. He was more screwed up than his patients and the business of him hating his ex-wife's new husband and trying to reclaim his place in his family got old quickly.
Hopefully Ted will get another show.

Bill S hit it on the nail.
I only discovered this show by accident last week, ironically, after griping bitterly to my wife about what a crappy TV season it's been this year.
So, after briefly displaying an unexpected glimmer of quality, ABC has decided to quash it to cater to the braying masses.
Typical.

"Big Day" isn't doing very well either. (Fantastic show, though.) The order was for 13 episodes, so doubling up probably means ABC's trying to burn off what's left and be done with it.

I hate few shows outright -- but help me help you was just awful, I think it lasted as long because of Ted Danson. If you guys want quality sitcoms check out How I met your mother and the adventures of old christine and the entire CBS sitcom monday lineup.

Network television seems to be the only business where you succeed by aiming low.
This show was witty and intelligent. They should have known better. Maybe it's time for another talking monkey?

After watching Becker and loving his character on that show, this one just wasn't up to par. I watched the first couple of episodes and then turfed it as well. I say bring back Becker!

I watched this show for the first time last night. Hmmm, I thought it was "scattered". Maybe because everyone had been established from previosu episodes but this isn't a soap. I got into 30 Rock immediately after weeks it been on because it was funny. Help Me... needed some help. Big Day seems interesting. Sorry Ted but you're still getting paid though.

Kinning an ok show with bad ratings and killingoff Daybreak sooner, seems like a win win for ABC.

I agree with Darren. I really like Danson in most of what he does, and the supporting actors in this show were good, but it just didn't make me want to watch it. I'm sad to see it go just the same, because it often takes a good while for a show, especially a comedy like this, to hit its stride and I was hoping it would do just that eventually and get me watching. There's too few good comedies on now.

I have never heard of this show, but several collegues at work mentioned it to me, and I happened to catch the show by accident about two weeks ago. It was the funniest show I've seen in a while! Thing is, I don't remember what night it's on, or have I heard anyone really talk about it.
It's a shame, because this is a show that should be on.
It just needs a little promotion

UNBELIEVEABLE!!! I thought this show was hilarious! Of course the ratings suck - it's following "The Big Day" (which really sucks.) I honestly don't recall seeing a promo for this show since DWTS ended. Ugh...
Now that this show is practically off the air, when will ABC show "Notes From The Underbelly"?

Sad but it seems like ABC gave it a plum spot for several weeks. Unfortunately a large percentage of the audience just wasn't interested.

Too bad. Tuesday night during the Grinch they had a promo: House - not funny, L&O:CI - not funny, The Unit - funny name but not funny. Big Day/HMHY - funny.
Seemed like ABC took a lesson from the Fox marketing department and just ignored a new comedy but took it the next step. This past week was the funniest episode of the three I had seen and was hoping to see at least the show go to thirteen episodes. And Big Day has some great moments looks like its going to see the exit.
I might check out the Mick Jagger comedy ABC has, that premise seemed a lot better than Smith. Its been a few years since I watched anything on a Wed. besides hockey. I don't know if they could do an entire season of planning to rob Mick Jagger, maybe planning four celebrity heists a season would be better. Or maybe I should just stick with NBC Thursdays since I know they'll be around for the whole year.
