If you didn't see Studio 60's Christmas episode, then you should. Not only was it one of the show's best, but it featured a musical performance by New Orleans musicians displaced by Hurricane Katrina that's sure to put a lump in your throat. The musicians were led by Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews in an original arrangement of "O Holy Night." You hear carols a thousand times, and after awhile, they lose the power to move you. This performance brought all that power back. You can now download the track as a free MP3 from NBC's Studio 60 website or iTunes. The musicians, who included Andrews, Kirk Joseph, Kid Merv, Roderick Paulin, Bob French, Steve Walker and Frederick Shepherd, were assembled with the help of the Tipitina Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping artists recover from the Hurricane. If you watched Spike Lee's When the Levees Broke, which will be released on DVD December 19th, you know that there is still much recovering to do. Another group of musicians was featured in that film - the Hot 8 Brass Band - a group I have made my family promise to book for my funeral no matter the cost. They also have a handful of free MP3 downloads online. So, what are you waiting for? Support some New Orleans musicians this Festivus season.

I live in LA and I must admit it is hard to be into the Christmas mood. Especially when it is 70 degrees outside and you don't buy into the bullshit story of Christmas.
Nevertheless, that is one beautiful rendition of O Holy Night. It sent shivers up my spin when I heard it last week and it is great to see NBC stepping up and giving us a freebie.
Merry Christmas

The performance was indeed great. The episode, however, sucked.
The pregnancy storyline and the love interest between West Wing guy and Jordan is pretty unappealing. The two actors illuminating the writers in Christian mythology seemed forced to me, and just a way for Sorkin to get his liberal jabs in. I really don't buy that info like that would have been a revelation to the writers, or that they'd have obsessed over it like they did. The kiss was OK, but Harriet's on air reaction was stupid. I keep waiting for this show to hit its stride, but so far, it's been a big disappointment.

Hey TV Squad, fire Bob Sassoone, and hire David4! At least he's succinct.

I can give a longer review for January's new episode.
Wow, what a great episode. I cannot understand why more people do not watch this show. The charaters, the writing, the stories, all very Sorkin. The show is wonderful, one of the best shows on TV, the best new show of the year, this was the best episode yet!
The interaction between Mathrew Perry and the West Wing guy are amazing! It's so great seeing them together every Monday, brings back feelings of the West Wing days. I love this show! Then the Blonde Haired Bitch and Perry's charaters are so meant for each other, you can feel the love between them and that their story is moving forward. I love this show!
The story is over the top and might be a tad preachy, but it is so very Sorkin! Sorkin is God! This show is great! Sorkin is God! The show is so great. Sorkin can't mess up because Sorkin is great! This was such a wonderful episode, it better get a second season otherwise NBC will lose a truely great show. BEST EPISODE YET!

I know I can download it off the NBC website, but I cannot find it on iTunes. If it's on there, can we post a direct link to it?
Wonderful song, btw!
