Today's TV Guide online features an interview with Joss Whedon about the forthcoming Buffy comic, which picks up where the series left off. There isn't much in the way of new information in the interview portion. Everything we know about the comic's plot and release schedule was covered in last month's Entertainment Weekly piece. Angel and Spike won't be around too much because the Angel franchise is owned by another comic publisher. Not all the old characters will be back at once, and the plot focuses on a world of girls with fully-realized Slayer powers. What is new, however, are the hot preview pics from the comic - including a sample cover and what appears to be Buff and a gang of Slayers dropping from a helicopter in some pretty sci-fi looking gear. The cover reads, "The thing about changing the world...once you do it, the world's all different." If you read the images closely, you'll learn that... [WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD]
...there are 1,800 slayers and counting; the Slayers are divided into ten separate teams; Buffy still has a watcher; there are three Buffys - two decoys and one real Buff; the Buffy we met in Rome on the last season of Angel - the one dating "the Immortal" - is a decoy. Andrew made "the Immortal" stuff up, and the second Buffy decoy is "literally underground." You might be able to glean something else from the images that I didn't. That's enough, however, to whet my appetite for the March 2007 release. Now, all we have to do is wait.

I don't think I've bought a comic book since I was 8 but I'll buy this one.

1,800 Slayers? I didn't really watch the show that much, and I stopped after she died and came back to life when the show switched channels so I'm lost. :)

anything that makes certain that the Immortal crap (the one minor stain on an awesome season of Angel) is retconned is worth my money.

The fact that some are written by Joss Whedon himself is enough for me. Can't wait.
