(S13E11) This week's episode of Survivor was one of the most heated I have ever seen. It's definitely more like Big Brother than Survivor with Raro in the game. If there were dishes to be done or a bathroom to be cleaned they'd be fighting about that too. Still, it makes for some interesting watching and it does seem to be rattling Cool Yul whose may be letting his dominant position go to his head.I don't envy Jonathan having to live with the people he betrayed. Tonight's episode is just a festival of righteous anger. Parvati starts first with the name calling. Jonathan takes it for a while but the next morning he begins ranting to Aitu about Parvati deciding that because she hasn't gutted a fish in 27 days that she isn't really playing the game. He also decides that a million dollars would mess up her life. Oh really? I suppose it wouldn't do the same for anyone else. As much as I am no Raro fan I don't think anyone elected Jonathan judge of who is million-worthy.
It's hard to cheer for Raro even if they are underdogs when you have Parvati and Adam sitting around sucking on fruit and muttering about how the game is as much fun anymore.
Tonight is the Survivor auction and we learn that he who hesitates is lost. Jonathan gets a beer and a nice lunch, Parvati gets a bubble bath, Becky wins the right to send someone to Exile Island and steal their money. Poor Candice gets screwed again with no money and no food. Then surprisingly, Yul admits to the entire crew that he has the idol. I'm not sure I agree with this move. Yul, who has proved to be a keen strategist often ends up hamstrung by his desire to be straight for people
I find myself feeling bad for Candice for the first time. At this point, she's just being tortured being sent to Exile Island again. Yul and Adam who are holding off on bidding in order to bid on the big ticket items end up with a whole lot of nothing when the bidding ends early. Meanwhile Jonathan eats big and even gets a chance to practice good dental hygiene. The poor man's Richard Hatch is definitely the winner of this event much to the chagrin of Parvati, simmering in her bubble bath of hurt feelings. Usually Jonathan tries to be lowkey but all of a sudden his natural cockiness is rising to the surface.
The immunity challenge is a multipart event mainly involving memory and problem solving. Amazingly it's Jonathan, Adam and Parvati in the final part of the challenge. Did the old Aitu tribe fall asleep? Apparently Adam didn't, he walks away with immunity in an easy win. Maybe the boy is not as dim as I thought. Or maybe Aitu threw the challenge just to see how the chips would fall.
Unfortunately the win just proves why the old Raro tribe is stupid. They decide to go after Jonathan. Why not try to do in Becky or Sundra or a real threat like Ozzy? Even Yul tells them that this won't help them. But our Real World tribe is quite stubborn. Instead of plotting a real strategy they are cuddled up, two smoochers and Parvati who is far too cute to appear so patently desperate for attention.
Jonathan catches fish, brings firewood and everyone starts eating while Parvati and Adam and Candice snuggle. When the trio gets wise to it, Candice comes out and tells the tribe how horrible they are and how no one likes Jonathan. This makes Yul a bit nervous and he starts wondering if he should vote Jonathan out to curry favor with a potential jury. The camera hasn't shown us a lot of his relationship with Becky but I suspect she has a great deal to do with the way he is playing this game. There's a bit of an insecure core in Yul which has a tendency to emerge when attacks get personal. His want to be like undoes him a bit and I think Becky helps set him on an even course.
At tribal, it's about as ugly as it can get. Candice, Parvati and Adam attack Jonathan calling him a rat and a cancer. They even say that they don't mind if they go immediately after him as long as Jonathan goes. Candice also makes an appeal to the jury. Miss Candice gets the boot much to the sorrow of Adam who gives her a lingering farewell smooch. Jeff says "if it was love maybe he would have given you the immunity necklace." I wonder how long it will take Parvati to press her advantage with Adam. Now she has both sides of beefcake to herself.

Good Riddance - I like Jonathan - He's been scheming the whole game - its not like he has hidden anything. These "pretty" Caucasians thought they were in control and while all the barbarians are at the gate they continue to lay around like oblivious Kings.

A few thoughts:
(1) In the household I watched this episode, we all agreed the tribal council argument likely went on for 5-10 minutes. Only via editing did it get down to the 2 or 3 minutes they showed on TV.
(2) Jeff's UN comment for Yul and his parting shot at Candice and Adam were priceless!
(3) I am convinced more than ever that if the Raro people were smart, they could turn the game RIGHT NOW by pointing out to everyone just how "in front" Yul is for the million dollars. Because he is so well-liked and respected, it's SO important to vote him out. Because he showed the immunity idol, it's even MORE important to vote him out.
Parvati and Adam have clearly given up, which is too bad because for the first time they DO have a way out of this: turn the tables on Yul.

If I were Yul, there's no one I want to take to the final two more than Jonathan. Seems like facing him would be a sure win.
It will be interesting to see how the Adam/Candice relationship plays into the rest of the game... especially, say, if he makes out with Parvati and the rest of the tribe brings that up in front of the jury.

I don't think Adam would be stupid enough to make out with Parvati. I agree with Anna. I think Yul should make it his point to end up at the final vote with Jonathan. Although that means he would have to betray his aitu tribe members. Don't know if he'll do that. I just want to say: How much of a jackass was Nate at the tribal council. It was like he was on diet pills or something with the "Yeah!" facial expressions. He clearly still feels betrayed but he was overcompensating just a touch. Final note: I am SO glad to get rid of Candace. She was nothing but a big TATTLETAIL! Well, they said they didn't like you...Jonathan said this... and Yul said this. It's like, grow the hell up. I knew the minute she was tattling on Yul to Jonathan, she was a goner. Good riddance!

Did anyone notice Becky's face when Yul was telling her that he didn't want to upset the jury? I think she finally realized that Yul is considering taking Jonathan to the final two because he knows the jury won't like him.

The most priceless moment of last night's episode: When Jeff says "if it was love maybe he would have given you the immunity necklace." HAHAHA! I almost died laughing! Clearly the in-lust Adam is looking out for himself.

Is anyone else think that Yul is getting to full of himself? Why did he feel the need to tell everyone that he has the idol -- even though everyone knew it. All of them are paying the price for not voting off jonathan when they had the chance -- they knew that he was a snake -- yet Adam and Nate and Co chose to vote off other members and kept jonathan because of the lure of the fish.

Adam and Nate are two punks, they've also been the pretty boys in their groups. I'm talking about in their lives before the game. Now that they're no longer in control they just want to cry and call people names.
Jonathan told them that Yul had the idol, they didn't listen. Jonathan did what he had to do to stay in the game. After the vote Jonathan told them he had to vote that way or his was going home, THAT YUL HAD THE IDOL. THEY STILL DIDN'T LISTEN.
Was a GREAT COMMENT Jeff made, that if you loved her you should have given her the idol.

Raro is apparently shallow, and completely ignorant of the game. They thought this was going to be The Real World or Road Rules, but surprise surprise, there are some real players out there this time.
I'm looking for the last two Raro's to get picked off, then maybe Ozzie, Sundra, and Jonathan teaming up against Yul and Becky.

The episode should forever be called "Ménage à trois."
I'm betting dam and Parvati will "go at it" now that Candice has been ousted. These people are so shallow.

This season has been a really good one, IMO. I would like to see a Yul/Becky final 2. It will be nice to see someone in this game finish it with actual honor. Yul/Ozzy would be fine as well. Nothing against Sundra but she hasn't done anything really, at least Becky built an alliance with Yul from early on.
Seems Candice went on the early show and said she was faking it with Adumb (I read about it, didn't see). Of course a total spin job, my guess is that Adumb and Pav get it on.

Sundra saved herself in the first tribal council. Since then, she was the only Hiki that ended up on Aiku, so how else should she have played? She had no alliance at the time, didn't have any numbers on her side, so she laid low until the major alliance needed her, and has stuck with them since. It's not the most exciting game, but it was probably the best strategy for someone in her position, so I can't fault her for how she's played.

Wow, what a bunch of whiners on Raro. I could not believe how Candice would try to speak from some moral high ground and talk about how Jonathan betrays people, right in front of the very people she herself betrayed.
I think Jonathan is working the only strategy he knows how. He hasn't been winning any competitions, so he has to rely on the non competition portions of the game to make his moves. So far it has kept him in the game.
I think Yul was a little too confident in his conversation with Becky. He went on and on about not wanting to piss off the jury as if he was a shoe in to win. I don't blame him though for saying he has the idol. It is tough to manage a vote to force him to use it, knowing that someone else would go home. It would almost have to be unanimous. no one wants to risk being the deflection vote.
Adam and Pavarti should also get off their moral high ground as well. They booted off Jenny and Brad and kept Jonathan and Candice, who weren't even in their alliance.
It took quite a bit of hubris for Raro to get pissed that Aitu was eating without them when they spent the day snuggling. If you want to eat put in the work. This isn't a hotel.

Just a question. If Adam would have given the immunity idol to Candice, wouldn't they have in effect voted off Johnathan since he had the next highest votes?

I think the Immunity necklace can only be passed to someone else before the votes. This is to put a risk factor in it for the original necklace holder. Otherwise you would pretty much have two people guaranteed to be safe every week if the immunity holder was protected before the vote and the person he gives it to was protected after.
