Beauty and The Geek will make its third season debut on January 3rd with a two-hour season premiere. As usual, eight beautiful dimwits get paired up with eight socially-awkward brainiacs for a series of competitions that put their respective skill sets to the test.I'm not a big fan of reality shows, but I swear I teared up a little when one of the beauties admitted in season one that she wouldn't have given any of the geeks she'd grown to love the time of day before the show. It touched the cockles of my own geeky heart. And, as Woody Allen says, "There's nothing like hot cockles." I'm still waiting for the bizarro version of this show where eight himbos are paired up with eight girl geeks. I have no idea if it would work quite as well since we all know that the girl geek just needs to take off her glasses and loosen her hair from that tight librarian bun and - swoosh - she's do-able.

I was surprised to learn that Ashton Kutcher was behind this show's premise. I, like you, also teared up in season 1. Unfortunately their sophomore season had conflicts on my TIVO, but I'm hoping to make room for this upcoming season. I like that, while "reality," it also was sweet, and the dynamic was one where they wanted to work together and not backstab. Heck, I even learned a thing or two from them, and don't consider myself on either extreme.

They'll never show a female nerd/male bimbo show.
1. Male bimbos would be even worse about giving a female nerd the time of day than the current gender arrangement.
2. If nobody wants to fuck the girls, who will watch the show? Unless they cast pretty girls and then Ugly Betty-ize them, anyway.
-speaketh a female nerd who still wishes for a gender reversal show, but knows better

I hate that they call it Beauty and the Geek. It has a nice ring to it but these guys are not cool enough to be geeks. They give geeks a bad name. Most of 'em are nerds, some borderline dorks! In the technosexual world, there's a difference, look it up!

it wouldnt fly...but not for the obvious reasons. men are conditioned to worship beauty while overlooking their own beer bellies, bad teeth, k-mart clothes, $10 haircuts and the inability to think beyond sunday NFL.
behind every successful man is a great woman...if she can stand looking at his asscrack.

I know one of the "beautiful dimwits." She IS beautiful, but she is not a dimwit. Are they instructed to act dumb?

if all these girls thinks guys only want girls that look pretty why don't the girls go after guys that have more than 1 thing on their mind? It's not just guys who go for beautiful girls . The reverse is true also.

In response to comment number 5:
None of the "Beauties" would EVER make it past the 1st round in a Jeoapardy try-out.
If ya really knew one of the Beauties...why would you even ASK the question?
Dimwit? Most were...

Contrary to popular belief, it is possible for a woman to be beautiful AND intelligent.

Why can't anyone ever do a show with overweight people and beautiful people? That way beautiful people can learn to look at the inside caring hearts of overweight people instead of just the outside picture. Some of us overweight people would make the best mates.

I'm a geek and I'm beautiful. I graduated at age 16, college at 18, have an IQ in the 95th percentile... And I'm also a part-time model. It's clear to me I should be on this show.

It seems to me that every one of us has felt like a beauty or a geek alternately, maybe at the same time, during our lives, including Ashton Kutcher. That's the appleal of this show. Don't take it personally and try to put your minority self into the equation. The question is why would anyone worry about which category they are in? Enjoy the joy, embrace the understanding, it all goes toward human kindness and empathy.

Please provide the definition of:
Geek
Nerd
Dork.
I honestly can't figure out the difference!
(Geek Girl, some of us would really like your sage advice here).

DDG, i just wanted to lend my support on your sentiment. i wish the same, though i don't think it would be allowed to happen ...most people just don't want to look at obese (or even just overweight) people, they think big people are repulsive and they think that for all of us it's our own fault and we're pigs ...there isn't an abundance of compassion, let alone attraction ...but i'll hold out hope that someday someone will manage to get a tv show like the one you mentioned on the air, and maybe some people's hearts will be touched and they'd be able to find tolerance. best wishes~

Regarding comment #6: those words should be chiseled in stone. Every man, no matter how he looks, thinks he's hot...and every woman, no matter how beautiful, is insecure about her looks. It's really sad.

Deeds,
Thanks for the support. It is sad that if you are not a Barbie or Ken no one wants to give you the time of day. If they have shows like Little People Big World or other shows showing support for people that are different why can't there be just one for overweight people. Too bad people didn't really take note to the movie Shallow Hal. That really gave a true feeling to what us bigger people go through.

I was dissapointed that I only got to see the last two episodes of season 1. I hope they will release it on DVD sometime soon. I think Mindi is actually intelligent. She has a great personality and is also extremely hot! I enjoy wathcing this show beacause I am very smart and find it difficult to approach attractive girls. I can't wait for season 3 to start in January. I love you Mindi!
