Everybody Hates Chris: Everybody Hates Superstition

everybody Hates chris(S02E09) It seems the shows I review have been somewhat light in the plot department this week. Sunday's episode of The Simpsons felt like it could have been stronger, and this most recent episode of Everybody Hates Chris centered around Chris and a pair of ugly (but lucky) socks.

The episode still had some great funny moments, the one I loved the most was Chris getting an advanced copy of Roots 4: Kunta's Revenge from his teacher, but I was hoping for something more than just Chris becoming enamored with his lucky pair of socks. The whole concept seemed a little too "Sitcom 101" to me, and while I still enjoyed the episode, it seemed to lack those extra ingredients that always seem to elevate Everybody Hates Chris a few notches higher than most standard sitcoms.

Despite a rather lame plot, not to mention an equally overused subplot of Drew and Tonya pitting their parents against one another, the episode did at least end strongly with an impromptu speech given by Chris in front of his history class about the importance of not giving up, a speech that cited movies like King Kong, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and absolutely nothing of real historical significance.
