Is anybody else as pissed off as I am after watching last night's episode of Heroes, "Homecoming"? Talk about empty promises. I've been seeing and hearing NBC promos all week that promised I would learn what "Save the Cheerleader. Save the World" meant. I actually watched the damn show live last night instead delayed on my TiVo. Did I miss something? Because, all that happened last night was that a cheerleader was saved. Great. But, how does that translate into saving the world? Other promos said "The Heroes come together to save the cheerleader, save the world!" What heroes came together? Peter was alone. Some of my anger is directed toward the writers of Heroes. They did have the characters say "Save the Cheerleader" a hell of a lot during this episode. But, I mostly blame the NBC promo machine that totally cried wolf! They're actually doing a dis-service to Heroes by promising more than an episode delivers. Yes, we see shows over-hyped all the time, but this time we were given a specific promise and it wasn't followed through.

I was disappointed as hell. I mean the episode was fun and all but really, the hype machine worked overtime on what was otherwise a regulation episode.
Heroes publicity is also starting to turn into a ER like machine...every week something ginormous is going to happen. Its the episode to lord over everything else.

What did you think would happen? Peter would save the Cheerleader and a big glowing light would come down or the voice of God would say "Good job, Petey"? There will be implications about Peter saving Claire from Sylar. There will be something that only Claire can do with her power that will "Save the World"
That said, yeah this was an okay episode.

Not only did nothing happen (and, sorry, nothing happened), but I also watched it live, and I have never been subjected to so many commercials in my life. How many minutes of actual programming did we get? About 30 max. There was a commercial break averaging every 7 minutes. I guess since every advertiser to NBC wants to be on that program alone, they are actually cutting content. I thought it was one of the weakest episodes so far, and for the hype, that isn't acceptable.

Could it be "saving the world" because if Peter wasn't there to Save the Cheerleader then Sylar wouldn't have been captured?

as far as characters saying "save the cheerleader" were they suppose to use her name? oh, that's right they didnt' know it.
NBC does a very bad job at creating commercials for their Monday nights shows. the Studio 60 commercials have been very deceptive with footage and voiceovers which don't apply to the show.
i'm really not sure what to make that someone's enjoyment of a show is diminished by the commercials for the show.

My goodness. Such need for instant gratification.
I too was disapointed but realistic about it. After all, it's radiation boy that starts the end of the world and I'd imagine that the cheerleader is needed to be an indestructable love interest for him so he doesn't kill another mate.
Just a thought.

I thought the episode was pretty awesome. I just really like this show. I was hoping for some more answers about why saving Claire is important but I'm ready to accept that it is. For now what attracts me to this show is that its the anti-Lost in which nothing ever seems to happen. Here the plot moves along even if there is some filler. And Sylar is shaping up to be a pretty cool villain.

Loosen up people it's a television show. There's people dying everywhere in this world, and we worry about 'false promises' on a television show. SIT BACK. RELAX. ENJOY.
*Note: this is the best TV show I have watched in a decade. I love LOST but it's definitely running second to HEROES!!!!

I'm in the "this show is awesome so yeah whatever" camp. Look this show is fun and I love the journey it's taking me. I'm sure that Claire is the key to saving the world LATER. I mean really did you expect them to save the world last night? End of the show? Series finale? Come on.

I thought the episode was good. I am a little disappointed that my questions haven't been answered yet. Actually, I ended up with a new question after watching the episode, "Save the cheerleader." "Save the world" but which cheerleader. We have been assuming they have been talking about Claire but what if they weren't. Not all the cheerleaders were saved.

In the beginning I thought this show had potentional, but now I think its a HORRIBLE tv show.. I'm about to quit watching it cause NOTHING ever happens. NOTHING!. Every damn week it's the same thing.. they give like 2 mins to each character, it almost feels like a soap, actually I'm starting to think it is cause of the lame ass writing "teenagers don't talk like those two did last night" Man the 4400 can't come a second to soon.

I won't watch it until it is repeated on the Sci-Fi Channel on Friday, so all I can say is... things have a sequence... and saving the cheerleader may have set a sequence of events in motion...

While I do try and watch heroes because I am a fan of comics and how this is a push into that type of world on network tv. But it really was pretty disappointing, and actually I feel it is beginning to be just as bad as Lost in terms of hype. If you guys want to watch a good series, go and get Season 1 and 2 of Battlestar Galactica (I know many of you know already) to see a thought provoking series. This is the only show I can think of that encourages its viewers to reflect upon our country and current events.
As for the guy who says not to get worked up about "quality"...people die all the time, that is life. But that shouldn't dissuade you or others from doing a decent job in whatever your trade is.

Maybe he really didn't save the right cheerleader. As mentioned before, saving Claire allowed Sylar to be caught be Eden; however, what's not to say bitchy cheerleader wasn't special too? While I was disappointed also, I think there's more to the story with the cheerleader.

This entire post is retarded. If you really thought the question of how does saving the cheerleader relate to saving the world was going to be answered by episode 9 in a 22 episode season when that question is the central premise of the show just because commercials hyped it up for a week then you are not only extremely gullible, but pretty stupid too. Besides, who watches commercials or promos anyways. That's what the skip button's for.
One of the reasons Heroes is currently the best show on tv is because we know the story will be told over the course of an entire season instead of a couple episodes at a time. It takes an investment from the audience. Some questions will get answered but you know when that happens more questions will arise. It's the nature of the show.
It is fine to get peeved by the absurd amount of commercial breaks though.

Very disappointing! I knew the episode was in trouble when it had another dull B-story with Sayid... I mean, Mohinder. Get him out of India or write him off the show. BOR-ing.
The A-story was also weak. So saving the cheerleader accomplished WHAT, exactly?
(I did think Syler's TK scalpel was pretty cool, tho') But Claire's healing FX when he threw her against the wall were really craptastic. And her injuries were no way that bad from getting thrown against a gym wall. It looked like she went 10 rounds with the Hulk.
Likewise, how did Peter get all twisted up by falling just 50 feet? And how can a school be THAT empty during Homecoming?

I liked the show last night, but it was over hyped. I thought all the heroes were going to get together at the school and do some kind of Justice League move on whoever was after the cheerleader.

Why didn't Peter use Sylar's ability against him, and can he use multiple people's ability if more than one "gifted" person is near him?

I was left with the same thought as well. Everyone is assuming that Claire is the cheerleader he was supposed to save. But a cheerleader did die. Why didn't the futuristic Hiro tell Peter to save Claire the cheerleader. I guess we will have to wait and see if our assumptions are correct.
