Oh, I almost didn't even write this. Should I just shut off the comments now?
Live with Regis & Kelly cohost Kelly Ripa went on a little rant (she likes little rants, it seems) on this morning's show about singer Clay Aiken. The American Idol runner-up cohosted the show with Ripa last Friday, and Ripa didn't like the way he treated her. Not only did Aiken put his hand over her month during one of the interviews, Ripa said that he was hostile towards her. Howard Stern even called her after the show to talk about it. Maybe next time they should just get Reuben Studdard or Taylor Hicks? What about Justin Guarini? I think he's free.
This isn't the first bad behavior by Aiken that has been reported. A couple of years ago it was reported that he treated people badly at a charity event at a school, something to do with his attitude, the way he acted towards both teachers and students, even the food that he got for the event.

Guess that's what happens when you put two queens on the same stage. The older Queen gets jealous and the newer one is just trying to play.

It was incredibly rude. Yes, you're a co-host. But, you're also a guest. Maybe she was hogging all the questions. But, you don't see Regis or Kelly covering each other's mouths when they're together.
You can see her reaction to Clay that next Monday here:

I agree number 1. I will take Clay's side because he has a little talent unlike Kelly Ripa. Who hasn't wanted to but there hands in front of Kelly Ripa's face? Or around her throat?

Kelly is just a famewhore who walks all over Regis. How appropriate was it for her to want Mario to drop his pants? I was in the audience. Pot meet kettle Kelly. So she and Howard Stern are pals? I wouldn't brag about that one if I were you Kelly. Grow up. I'm sick of her name-dropping anyway. I'm done with this show.

Kelly Ripa has talent. It's not exactly easy to be in front of millions of people every day and be able to sustain conversations with your co-hosts and guests almost every day.
Besides, she's cute and funny.

After watching the video on Youtube, wholeheartedly agree with ByDesign's comment. Kelly Ripa clearly gives me the impression she doesn't think she needs a co-host.

Kelly's little "speech" this morning was more than hypocrotical to be laughable. I mean chiding Clay for being disrespectful for giving her some good natured teasing in her presence, but yet she can dress up like him for a Halloween skit and mock him, and that is not being disrespectful by her own definition? I don't think doing either is a big deal, if you are gonna dish it out, you better be able to take it... hell it was the most innocous thing anyway. Get over it Kelly and get over yourself.
What I will also say is that while Kelly with chatting it up with "Mr. Respectful" himself Howard Stern and concoting ways to convince us all that she was disrespected, Clay was lighting the Unicef Christmas Tree in NYC a long with needy kids and actually making a differnce in the world...

Clay Aiken does sound like a douchebag. Ripa is a diva (and annoying at times) but she's right, putting your hand over someone's mouth is a definite no-no.

ok, putting your hadn over someones mouth, isnt a great thing to do during an interview, but i do not think clay did it it make her mad, it was obviously for a joke. Kelly, however, took it to the next level by bitching about it for 3 minutes, the next show!

I truly am shocked at how many people are making excuses for Clay Aiken's rude behavior. Do you encourage your children to act this way? You think it's funny? I happened to see the show last Friday because I wanted to see the DWTS performers, and frankly I was shocked at his rudeness. Say what you will about her, but it's her show, not Clay's. He had the opportunity to shine and instead he blew it.

Completely off point, but this posts reminds me of a funny story that happened to me last week. My family and I were out to eat at a nice breakfast joint, and my brother and I noticed a girl and her pasty boyfriend who looked EXACTLY like Clay Aiken, from the back at least. Very metrosexual tight pants with some weird inlay pattern and a Japanese-styled designer shirt. He also donned the trademark pumpkin-highlighted spikey hair with no gel, I nearly fell off my chair laughing. The plan was to go about to the Aiken look-a-like and say "Hey man, my girlfriend is a huge fan of yours, she watches American Idol all the time. Can I get an autograph?" I'd say this really loud so everyone would hear and embarrass his girlfriend (who was surprisingly very hot btw). Once he denied the claims, I'd say "Come on man, just sing one line to my gf, she's over there. Just a little "If I were in vis able!" I told my brother I'd offer him twenty dollars to do it, but he counter bet forty dollars, and it went on to $100. Then I felt bad, and I didn't want to take his money so we just let it be. Moral of the story: Clay Aiken is a douche.

First of all, the incident 2 years ago at Clay's Joyful Noise Tour did NOT happen as reported. It was one of the teachers that acted rude and horribly. NOT Clay. He has nothing but respect for the children who participated in his concerts that winter. How many other performers used elementary, middle and high school choruses from each town/city they toured in???
Second, Kelly overstepped her boundaries Friday. Clay was supposed to ask Emmitt and Cheryl certain questions and Kelly asked them instead. She should of sat back and let Clay be Clay and give him a chance. Everyone knows SHE is the co-STAR of that show and she shouldn't of felt threatened by Clay. Although, Clay has more class in his pinky than she has in her whole body. Even Regis said he wish he had done that before (put his hand over her mouth)!!! That says a lot as to WHO was the rudest on that show last Friday. Kelly was very upset this morning, probably, after reading the reviews of Friday's show on their website that was just about 100 percent FOR Clay- and no, not all posters were Claymates before Friday!!!!

While I was watching Friday's show, I was thinking to myself that Kelly was being VERY rude to Clay by not letting him ask Emmitt and Cheryl a single question! She just kept rambling on and on, with no regard to Clay being the co-host! Being a co-host means that you both get to ask questions during the interview!!! I wanted to put my hand over her mouth so that she would shut her mouth for one minute, so that Clay could actually ask one question! He wasn't being rude or hostile toward her! Actually, he was doing what a lot of us viewers wanted to do from home! Even Regis has to shut her up once and awhile! It is Kelly that needs to work on her manners. She was very unprofessional in her behavior during the interview and her comments about Clay on Monday's show . I'm sure that I won't be watching "Regis & Kelly" ever again. She made up my mind for me last Friday.

I saw the show Friday. I am not really a big Clay fan and I watch Regis and Kelly live almost every day. I was quite surprised at how Kelly ignored her co host and she was so rude. I was really shocked to see her look threatened by him and so insecure. She sooo overreacted to this whole thing although he should not have put his hand over her mouth. Her ugly little rant Monday did not help the situation. I do believe he meant no harm. Recently I have seen her act a little superior to others and am wondering what is going on with her.

Kelly needs to grow up. When Regis isn't there she takes over the show and forgets that she has a co-host. She makes me want to turn the show off. Clay needed to be given a little more respect.
