(S04E08) This episode wasn't so hot. In fact, it was kind of a cop-out if you ask me. It just doesn't seem right that a show that's only about eleven minutes long to begin with should spend any amount of time by showing scenes from a previous episode.
Don't get me wrong. The montage showing all the clips of Frylock saving Meatwad and Shake from episodes past was funny, but it's the sort of thing I would expect as an Easter Egg on a DVD set -- not as an actual episode. It just seems like a lazy thing to do.
Of course, I started to wonder why the team was staying inside and chatting about the good ol' days and that's when the title of the episode finally made sense. There was a grim reaper gutter salesman at their front door and he wouldn't leave until he made a sale. The plan to get rid him? They somehow got pornstar Tera Patrick (incredibly random guest star) to come over and then called up Carl to come meet her. Then maybe when he came over the grim reaper would pester him instead. Good plan... except Carl said no to the salesman and Death killed him. So Frylock finally caved and bought some gutters.
That was essentially the episode minus the whole montage thing I mentioned. There were a few other funny moments though. I loved it when Meatwad whipped out the sweater he made entirely out of pubic hair. Shake's response to Carl wearing it was even better: "How could you tell if he had it on?" Good point. Carl is a hairy man. Did anyone understand the point of Meatwad shooting himself at the end? I feel like that was a take-off on something and it went right over my head.
Favorite line?
Carl (to Meatwad, regarding the pube sweater): "I made you a shirt too. But see, without the "R" part. Get it? I made you a shirt. Go get it before it sinks. Haha! I had a lot of meat last night."

I don't think it was hilarious, but it did have me lol a few times. The pubic hair stuff was the highlight of the episode. Yeah, it did start off extremely weak, but it was a fairly smart take on "Clip Shows".
I've lowered my expectations for the new ATHF somewhere down the line and it's for the best. I love the show so much, but recently it just seems to have gotten kind of stale.
I'm not looking forward to the movie at all after reading a bunch of early reviews. I'm pretty certain it will be nigh impossible to stretch something that is designed to be 12 minutes into a full length feature.
Still better than that Morel Orel crap or 12oz Mouse...ugh.

Yeah it wasn't a very good episode, but I'll take ATHF over any of those other new adult swim shows. I really do miss the golden age of adult swim - - ATHF, space ghost, sealab, harvey birdman, brak, home movies...
Also, does meatwad's voice sound different to anybody else? It seems deeper, more throaty or something. I don't like it.

I didn't even let out so much as a chuckle throughout this whole thing. This season had been very solid so far, so I was willing to forgive them for having a lousy episode. Hopefully next week will be better.

Hey at least they had "The Shaving" on after this one. Willy Nelson has been know to "pull a number on many a cat".

I thought that meatwad sounded different too. It reminded me of when I was a kid and you could totally tell when they changed Fred Flintstone's voice. :)
I also didn't get Meatwad killing himself. I think the new season has been pretty good and I did enjoy last night.
Is anyone watching Frisky Dingo? I think it is really good as well.
