(S03E09) Teams are gone and individual game play begins. The two remaining (former) Blue Team members still hang out with their trainer Bob though. Bob redeclares his eternal commitment to his "boys," while Kim readily shed's her team colors and is initially shown giving individual training time to newbies Jaron and Adrian. Adrian seems to be having trouble, still trying to adjust to the ranch. Though Jaron appears more acclimated now. Both of them came in doing great, in my opinion, considering they were greeted and treated like pariahs last week. Now Adrian has to go and have a meltdown before the race.
But prior to the race there's a make-over segment and photos for Prevention magazine. They used this same situation as a challenge last year. This time it's just an entertainment segment . Wylie, with his shaved head, basically has to sit in a chair while a stylist looks at his head. Adrian and Marty seem to enjoy the photo shoot most.
While Caroline Rhea's explains the bike race for immunity challenge, Adrian breaks in, crying that the race won't be fair because it involves players in the race being able to pick who will be eliminated from it one by one. She knows she under the gun anyway, and has a lot of other theories why the rules should be changed, but there's just no way she's going to look help herself like this.
Kai makes the point that a lot of things in the game aren't fair. Adrian says she wants to quit, but something, or somebody, changes her mind off-camera and she stays in. She's absolutely right, though, when she predicts that the other five players will eliminate Jaron and herself from the race first. And later, in the weigh-in, Marty will express his disappointment at being unable to send one of members of the "grey team" below the yellow line. The new players are under a different kind of pressure than the original players, but Adrian needs to move on, and focus on doing her best. And anyway, as Heather tries to explain to Adrian, it's a compliment to have the other players gunning for you. It means you're considered a threatening player.
Kai wins immunity, which is well-deserved. Not only did she have to pedal like hell, but she also fought off a fear of heights.
Before the weigh-in we learn that Kim has trained five of the players this week, while Bob has trained two. Hm. Mainly I think this is because Jaron decided he'd rather not work out with Bob after the way he was treated initially, what with Bob dissing his at-home accomplishments last week.
Whatever the reasons, Bob gets to focus on only two players and quickly decides that Erik is going to go all the way and win the entire competition. He lost twenty pounds last week. Bob predicts he's going to put up big numbers again this time, and he does.
Wylie has what seems to me a very minor meltdown of his own after showing a goose-egg on the scale, going off angrily on his own after the weigh-in. I think he was just mad at himself but, from the way it's edited anyway, the other players seem to take it personally.
Finally the actual voting come down to who is the bigger threat, not the better sport. There are good arguments for either elimination: Marty is a consistent threat, and Wylie has alternated between big weight-loss and small weight-loss weeks. It's Marty that's finally chosen to go. Caroline says it "seems ridiculous" to say her signature "you're not the biggest loser" line to Marty, given all his progress. He's hardly the first player ever voted off after great success, that's kind of what happens all through to competition. Three years into this, and Caroline suddenly realizes the line sounds silly?

I said it before...I'll say it again. The show has become mean-spirited, where previous seasons' almost seemed uplifting and, dare I say, inspirational.
Adrian was right...and it didn't help that even as "individuals" everyone was gunning for the gray team...even though teams supposedly didn't exist.
