Despite mediocre ratings and equally mediocre reviews (including mine), CBS has been happy enough with The Class to order more episodes of the "half-hour comic-sudser," as Variety so adroitly called it. But the show is not getting the entire "back nine" just yet. According to that Variety article, CBS is hoping the mid-season show Rules of Engagement, starring David Spade and Patrick Warburton, will work well in the Monday comedy block where The Class currently resides.
Another article, on USAToday.com, says that newer episodes of the show will concentrate on fewer characers.
As I've said before, that should be a good thing; there were so many characters and stories crammed into each episode that whatever good stuff there was in there -- the dedpan sarcasm of Richie (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and the gleeful disdain of Kat (Lizzy Caplan) are the standouts -- room to breathe. This probably means the end for the Kyle (Sean Maguire) and Holly (Lucy Punch) characters, since they have been involved in the most grating and unfunny storylines to date.

I don't think they'll phase out characters; I think they'll just focus on fewer stories per episode as they've done the last few weeks.
(Yes, I'm still watching this show.)

Still watching here, too. And hoping for a breakthrough... but even with all the characters and sets and volume of stuff, is it me or is the pace weirdly slow? Faster with the funny might help? But it's not just that. Lots feels off, right? But why???
Really, I want to know. Because this show should not suck. It triggered a massive bidding war for a reason.

Fingers crossed that David Crane finds his mojo. Meanwhile, can somebody in the class explain why what's on the air now feels flat? Anyone? Class?

Oh joy; a series with David Spade and Patrick Warburton, two actors who I've hated for as long as I've known about them. I am so glad that I bowl Monday nights if that is the night this thing shows up on.

I think The Class is one of the best comedies on T-V right now. I would hope CBS will keep it on the air. The Nov. 20 show was one of the best to date.

I attended the taping of the seventh show and was fortunate to see the first runthrough as well. One thing that struck me was, that although many things that didn't work ahd been made a lot better, some of the good stuff was also lost because they had to make everything as short as possible.
Another thing that was obvious, was that some of the actors are real comedic gems. The guy with the red hair was a joy to see. I hope this will come through in the actual episode. This show has a lot of potential, if CBS sticks with it.

I really enjoy this show. Sure its corny and all but it makes me laugh out loud which very few shows do these days. This last episode was cleverly written and came across hilariously on screen. I hope CBS doesnt cancel it and gives it time to grow. I did like it better that they had less stories being told in one show, the stories feel more complete.
Funny when I heard they were ordering a few more episodes I said "YEAH" in a Richie Velch sort of way- he is probably my favorite on the show.

So I've been reading up on some of the shows episodes, and now I have to see them all! I love the stories behind each character, I myself would like to get in contact with my 3rd grade classmates. I still have a class picture at home, lol. Glad to see "The Class" getting picked up for more episodes, and very happy to see them nominated for a People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Comedy up against another show I need sit and watch. "30 Rock". You can still vote for either. Favorite new TV Comedy is still one of the categories you can vote for at http://www.pcavote.com. I already vote because I work with the People's Choice Community. Tune in Jan 9th to CBS at 9pm to see who wins!

Did Kyle and Holly actually leave the show? I've noticed their conspicuous absence in the last couple of episodes and Holly is no longer in the opening "class picture." It seemed they just "disappeared" with no explaination at all. It's left me wondering if I missed an episode somewhere along the way.
