Following a recent screening of the Weeds second season finale and Q&A session for SAG members, E Online's Kristin Veitch summed up the proceedings and may have even hinted at a scoop our readers had already surmised for themselves. While the Q&A was more about the cast reminiscing and speculating about their characters and the shooting of the second season, I would be remiss not to tell you that you follow the jump at your own peril.
The more interesting revelations of the SAG screening included (WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD):
1. Don't expect a long-term romance between Conrad and Nancy.
While the chemistry is there and the kiss was a long-time coming, Mary-Louise Parker had this to say, "I don't think she [Nancy] could do anything long term. She only thinks of what's going to happen in the next seven minutes. It would be a really hot seven minutes with Conrad, but I don't know."
2. The reason Nancy's always drinking something is...
According to Parker, "The substances I'm drinking, you'll notice, are highly caffeinated. I thought that she needed to drink a lot of caffeine to stay at a normal stimulation. I felt she was numb and that she likes that feeling of adrenaline and the feeling of adrenaline is sort of soothing to her. Some people don't feel happy in their skin when things are calm and quiet, because if they are calm and quiet, she can hear herself think, and she doesn't want to hear that, so that is why I usually have Diet Coke at breakfast scenes and ice coffee and caffeine." Personally, I also thought that Nancy's caffeine addiction and Celia's drinking had more to do with the writers' subtle commentary on allowable drugs, but apparently, it was Parker's decision. Any commentary on suburban hypocrisy and drugs is just an added bonus.
3. Peter may not be dead.
Our wise TV Squad commenters already picked-up on this one. Because we see the dog enter the garage, there's the possibility that the Armenians actually shot the dog and not Peter. I really hope Peter isn't dead because it was way too easy a way for Nancy to get out of that situation both pragmatically and emotionally. And, Martin Donovan rules.

I agree with the Peter thing, they didn't show it for a reason.

Has this show even been officially picked up for a third season? I'm worried they'll go all Dead Like Me on us.

Yes it has. After the season finale it said "Season 3 coming in 2007".
The President that canned Odyssey 5, DLM, Stargate along others has been fired.

I think they would have shown the shooting or at least the struggle, and we would have heard a shot if we were really to think Peter was dead. Although the scene was pretty cool, it didn't seem complete. Plus, the mutt who ran in there bit Andy's toes off because there was, like, coleslaw on it; think of what it would try to do to two menacing armenians in a confined garage.

Actually, the dog may have belonged to the Armenians to begin with. Doug mentioned that when he found the dog in the epi were Andy lost his toes and after the raids. As for not hearing the gunshot that was cleared up in a T.V. Guide interview with the writer, She said that killing Peter off was hard for her because she liked the character so much, she said that is why we don't hear the gun shot but Peter really is dead.
