Last night on Lost Sawyer and Kate got busy in broad daylight right under the Others' surveillance cameras. Sawyer loves Kate, we know. I'm guessing he is pretty sure now that Kate loves him too. I hate to break it to Sawyer, but I see things completely differently. If I'm right, which is far from certain, of course, Kate doesn't love Sawyer, although she is attracted to him. She may or may not have admitted it to herself yet, but Kate loves Jack. Here's why I think so ...
First, I think that Kate slept with Sawyer because, as she keeps saying to him, she didn't want him to give up and die, and she certainly knows that Sawyer loves her. That, along with the tension of imprisonment, and fearing for their lives gets them together, but it doesn't mean she's in love with him.
Furthermore, we saw in the flashback that she ran away from her husband, Nathan Fillion's character. Kate doesn't think she deserves anything or anyone good.
Jack is good, at least in Kate's mind. So there's more of a reason she would go toward Sawyer, when she really loves Jack. You still might argue that she prefers a bad-boy like Sawyer, but she gives herself away when she tells Jack over the walkie-talkie that she won't leave without him. She does not say we won't leave without him. She's only thinking about Jack at that point. She'd rather die than leave without Jack, just as Sawyer would rather die than leave Kate behind.
Any thoughts?

I don't give a damn. I wish they would just kill Kate off and be done with the whole thing.

I think you are right. Most people are re-thinking that this morning and coming to the same conclusion.

It does not matter. Kate is a fugitive wanted for murder. No matter who she is in love with, once she gets off the island, she is either back on the run or under arrest. For the sake of drama, Kate is going to have to sacrifice herself as an act of redemption and to save the man she loves, whoever that may be. Either way, she will never live happily ever after.

So what was really meant by "Sheperd wasn't even on Jacob's list." was Jacob Ethen? We have assumed that the list Ethen wrote was the names of the surviors. Are we to rethink this since Jack's name would have been on that list?

Sean,
1. We never saw the list that ethan made (or did he? In Claires flashback Zeke berated him for not getting the list made) so why do we assume Jack would be on it?
2. Ethan has always been called Ethan. Unless Jacob is his first name I think there is another infiltrator.

When she said "I can't leave without you", I don't think she was talking to Jack.

Akbar,
Hmm...another infiltrator. that could be the case. Maybe Ben isn't the real leader after all. but do we have any clues to what that list was? it wasn;t the list with sawyer, kate and hurley, right?

who cares? this is why Lost is losing viewers. it went from a story with mystery and drama to a dumb soap opera. who cares who Kate loves? the show has become Desperate Housewives without the laughs.

Actually, when Jack told her to run and Kate screamed "I can't!" I took it to mean that she CAN'T because there is nowhere to go. She knows they are on a smaller island, because Sawyer told her. Jack doesn't know that, and thinks that telling her to run is a good thing.
I was iffy on whether she loved Sawyer, but when she started crying in front of Jack, I took that to mean that she was embarassed that she had to tell him to do something to save Sawyer, but she was genuinely begging. And on E! there was something about Jack doing the surgery and Kate sleeping with Sawyer, and only one was doing it for the right reasons. We KNOW Jack didn't do the surgery for the right reasons.
Finally, I took her flashbacks of loving and leaving her husband to mean that she wouldn't let Sawyer die, nor would she leave him behind. All of her flashbacks of this love came when she was with Sawyer, so I took it as an indication that she was equating the two loves.

I have missed some episodes. Would anyone have the patience to explain the "Jacob's list/Ethan" subject to me? I am sorry to ask, but this really intrigues me. Thanks to whomever is willing!

Does anyone remember the story Jack told Kate....the one he wants her to "retell" him when she is safe?
Also, when Ben was going under he said "see you on the other side"....hasn't that phrase been used a couple of times???

Jack, Kate & Sawyer are tied together by shared experiences. At this point I don't believe any of them would leave without the other, even Jack & Sawyer. Survival is the key. Kate knows Sawyer is the weakest link and Jack knows Kate won't abandon Sawyer. Whatever else happens is almost beside the point...who loves who can get figured out later. Right now it's to get off that frakken island.

i think Kate and Jake HAVE to end up together.. i mean the obveously love eachother.. in my opinion she is only trying 2 save sawyer and give him a reason to press onward and not jst throw his life away with out a fight..Grant it tht Kate and Sawyer are alot alike, but u can tell Kate and Jake belong 2gether.. they have liked eachother since 1st season and Kate deserves to be w/ a good man...

I think you're mistaking LOVE and IN LOVE. Kate LOVEs Jack (as a friend, brother, whatever). She's IN LOVE with Sawyer (as her soul mate). I highly doubt Kate could be IN LOVE with Jack - who mostly treats her like a child and constantly is yelling at her. Sawyer treats her with respect and like an equal. There are many many examples of this over the past two seasons.

I don't know if Kate loves Sawyer, but the show has done everything to crush the Kate/Jack side of the triangle:
1. Jack asked about Kate once. Even when Juliet showed up covered in blood and told Jack it belonged to a woman's, the logical question would have been was it Kates?
2. The flashback showed that Kate was a lot like Sawyer in it that they both run away because they don't think they are good enough. Her not leaving Sawyer proves she does care very much for him.
3. She telling Jack to operate on Benry and pleading with him that she has to believe the others will make good on their promise means Sawyer's welfare overrides her common sense in the matter.
Its obvious that when the show picks back up Kate will ammend Jack's plan to include both her and Sawyer. She is not leaving without him. But she can leave without Jack.

If your theory holds true...then that means last season's kiss between Jack and Kate was her running away from Sawyer when she heard him speak like her father. The flashback had nothing to do with Jack...it was about her growing as a character and learning to commit. Them threatening Sawyer's life cleared that up for her.
