If you haven't gotten your fill of contestants from American Idol, then open wide for a heapin' helpin' of Southern-fried goodness: finalist Kellie Pickler is set to star in a new FOX comedy about a girl from a small town in the South who discovers that the governor is actually her father. The character is based on Pickler herself, so I assume it will be an easy role for her to play. NBC has ordered a script for the new series, which is being written by Chris Peterson and Bryan Moore, who wrote three episodes of That '70s Show between them.
The series is being developed by American Idol's production company 19 Entertainment, proving once again that Idols don't just happen, they're strategically crafted and forced into our homes until we have no choice but to either give in or throw our TVs out the window.

I don't if anyone ever saw her as a correspondent on the Tonight Show, but she was actually very funny! Her "country dumb blonde" shtick is endearing and comes off sincere. Whether that will translate with scripts, who knows? I say let's not knock her out of the ring yet.

Q= What's the difference betweeen the American Idol alumns and every other celebrity or TV show personality being, as you said, "forced into our homes?"
A= Oh yeah, America actually voted the American Idol alumns in our homes....
Whats that? YOU didn't? You are "above" the whole American Idol thing? Ok... well then turn off your TV, but sorry to say, I'd take a genuine and talented Kelly Pickler, who just happened to get discovered on American Idol, over lets say...a Paris Hilton or a Tara Reid, who got forced into our homes because... how exactly was that? Because they were rich or because they were a drunk slut? No thanks... I'll take the American Idols any day.

I'll just call him Fatass with a flat voice.
And the point still stands, he was the "winner" and then he went on to do a Fox TV show that failed. Pickler didn't win but the show will be canceled just as quick and she is just as big of a reject as Fatass.

Wow! Actually his name is Ruben, and he never once had his own TV show. He certainly hasn't been as successful as other winners, or runner-up Clay Aiken, but I'd venture to guess he's made more money than you David. :)

I don't think the series will make it to actually become a series. I think maybe a pilot at best. If they were smart, they'd slide it next to one of the American Idol episodes.

Give the poor girl a break why don't cha! She's refreshingly stupid. I love stupid people. The world is too dam full of people who are full of themselves and think they know everything. OK so she'd still be plucking chickens if she didn't get on Idol....so what? Only in America can a stupid person become so endearing! It's the land of the Free!

I'm not sure why David is so down on the "Idols". If you don't like it don't watch it. Personally I hope Kelly's show is a big success. She strikes me as genuine. Even if the country dumb blonde thing is an act....she plays it very well. I would say she is very talented if that is case. I think she is adorable and I wish her well.

You all forget, Pickler, despite all of her dumb-blonde schtick, is still one incredible singer, and her success on Idol was no accident. Plus, she has a kick-ass bod, and if FAR more endearing than Jessica Simpson, (who has FAR outlived HER 15 minutes of fame). Anyway, give little Kelly her props. Personally, I can't wait until she does a spread in PLAYBOY! (Pssst, Kelly, that's the REAL ticket to fame! Trust me!)

They laughed at our local gal Fantasia, and look at her
now!
Kelly released her first album last week,
heard it's going to be number one for albums.
Many people don't like to see others make it.
They love to see people kept down, like so many
of themselves.
American Idol gives that chance for the brass
ring.
You go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What really irks me is that these Idol people get things handed to them. I feel so sorry for the people that work day and night for years, and can't get the stardom that these people have. I really hate the word "star" anymore. To me a star has worked for the title. Paul Newman is a star. A superstar, for that matter. KFed is not a star. Kelly Clarkson is not a star, but an up and comer. In twenty years, how many of these "stars" will be remembered?

I say more power to her. This is America, the land of opportunity! I'm personally sick and tired of the rich and famous being rich and famous just because they're rich and famous! It's nice to see that a person can still rise to the top from nowhere! I think she's genuine, and she DOES have a great voice and stage presence. I think we all care WAY too much about what happens in celebrity-ville anyway!
