Entertainment Weekly's web site is reporting that ABC is pulling the troubled show Six Degrees from the schedule for the remainder of November and all of December. The series, produced by J.J. Abrams, has been in trouble ever since its premiere in the post-Grey's Anatomy slot on Thursday nights, losing over half of it's lead-in's audience. To date, the show has been averaging 9.6 million viewers, which puts it 45th amongst prime-time shows. It has also received a critical drubbing, with many critics calling it boring and self-indulgent. No word on when or if the show will come back to the schedule, or what will replace it in its current timeslot.
This just goes to show that you don't lose half the audience of the number-one show on TV and survive very long, no matter who is producing your show. ABC may have given it a longer leash because of the Abrams pedigree, but the bad ratings were too much for it to ignore.
(UPDATE: According to Variety, ABC will put Men In Trees in the Thursday at 10 timeslot, starting November 30. It has also given Trees a full-season order.)

You've got to love Tivo. I watched the first episode of this but wasn't convinced so I just recorded the rest of the episodes without watching. It should take about 30 seconds to erase the rest of the episodes sight unseen and shut down the season pass. Just wish I had the space to timeshift the first 10 weeks of all new shows.

Men in Trees on Thurs @ 10 is a great idea. I'm sure ratings will pick up with lead-ins like Ugly Betty and Grey's. Why they didn't put it here in the first place is beyond me...

I'm going to miss Six Degrees for one reason: Campbell Scott. His portrayal of his character stood out as the one great performance. The rest of the show I won't miss.

I am really sad about this. I absolutely loved this show. It often seems that the shows I love the most, the rest of America finds repulsive. My new strategy: wait till America loves a show, then rent the first season to catch up.

I'd agree with the previous poster--all shows I seem to like aren't in stride with what "America" finds entertaining. Hmmmm, also interesting I never much liked "Sex and the City" until they started showing reruns on the WB--CW--whatever...

I am SO disappointed! I LOVE THAT SHOW and couldn't wait for Thursday nights. I looked forward to it even more than Grey's Anatomy. What a shame. As previously stated by several others I too seem to enjoy the shows that most others don't. Not enough sex and dirt and raunch to keep people captivated. You have to pay attention and be able to put facts together and be able to realize the complexities of life. This makes you think and realize that so many things people do affect so many others.

This is so disappointing! I thought this was one of the better new shows. It had several different characters with several interesting plot lines, taking place in NYC. There was lots of opportunity and potential to develop the characters and the story lines so much more throughout a full season.
I guess there just wasn't enough of the sex, crime and violence that today's TV viewers seem to want.

I can't believe this show MAY not come back. I loved it! I couldn't wait to see how they were going to intertwine the characters. I loved the episode where Whitney (?) found out her fiance was cheating on her. It was priceless.
Please don't cancel this show....Its so well written.

Six Degrees is (was)a great show. I'm beginning to get nervous watching new shows that may be cancelled at anytime. I also thought Commander in Chief was great. Can't a show stay on at least long enough to have the writers write a last episode. The show could die in peace and ABC wouldn't have 9.7 million angry viewers.

I, too, am really sad to hear they may be pulling the show. It was definitely my favorite new show of the season. I thought it was very entertaining and had very likeable characters, not to mention a great cast. I wish they would at least air the rest of the season.

I really loved this show as well. I watched every week. I really like the guy who plays the brother/bad guy from the wire. I am very sad. I have never seen men in trees. I don't like the star but I heard Amos was on the show so I may watch.
