(S04E10) Well that was a little disappointing. I thought last week's episode was outstanding and after seeing the previews for this week's installment, I was incredibly excited. Both Escobar and Bobolit were coming back in the same episode! Sounds like a winner right? Well hopefully I'm not alone in saying this, but the whole thing sort of fell flat for me.
If anything, you have to give the writers credit for finding a way to creatively, logically, and humorously tie Merrill and Escobar together. Both ended up in jail and Merrill got sick of being "passed around." So he became Escobar's prison wife. Awww... how cute. However, with marriage comes privilege and Merrill now knows about everything that happened in Nip/Tuck's pilot episode: Sylvio Perez, the cover-up, his brother Alejandro. Bobolit knows about it all and he uses it to blackmail McNamara/Troy into giving him an anal re-tread (sounds like the worst surgery ever). Merrill was like the prison bicycle... everyone had a ride, some more than others probably.
The blackmail didn't stop there though. Escobar wants his old face back. How creepy did he look after the surgery though, with all the stitches? Freaky. I had a feeling he was going to escape all the time too and I loved it at the end when he showed up at Sean's place and Sean initially thought he was just hallucinating Escobar like he always does. Nice touch. The Sylvio Perez secret is safe now though because Sean found Alejandro dead on his living room sofa, the latest on the long list of men killed by Escobar Gallardo. Despite everything that happened, Escobar seems to have developed this odd level of respect for Sean.
Elsewhere in the episode, not much else happened. Matt and Kimber got married, they're pregnant, and the baby is indeed Matt's. I really don't care about those two. Neither has contributed anything substantial to this season. Unless something big happens, it's all just been filler.
With Escobar back in the fold, Sean regained that swagger Gallardo always gave him and the truth about the affairs with Monica and Marlowe came out. Sean forgave Julia but something tells me she isn't going to return the favor. She shot him the coldest look when he admitted his infidelities. Julia bugs me this season -- especially so in this episode. But I was so pumped about it and it was just blah. Oh well. Only five episodes left this season so I'm sure things will heat up again next week.

I thought it was by far the best episode of the season. It felt more like a season 1 episode than anything. They brought back Merrill and Escobar in a believable way. When Escobar escaped, I just knew he'd meet up with Sean in his house. Escobar is by far the best side character on the show. Just knowing he's out of jail makes me happy.
Christian calling Matt a loser was just icing on the cake.

I was 50/50 on this episode. I like Merrill and Escobar plenty, but I thought it was a little unrealistic that a child molester who kills a federal agent during capture ends up in the same facility and has access to someone serving a plea-bargained 32 month aiding and abetting sentence. Kind of mixing federal and state crimes, which I believe wouldn't mix in a correctional facility. Either way, I too am glad Escobar is out and will presumably be returning.
The big question for me is if Christian is ever going to become 'human' this season. He takes hi baby steps, but always ends up regressing to his antisocial ways. What will be his tipping point? Kimber dying during childbirth?
That said, next weeks ep looks beyond corny. From the preview it looks like we're supposed to believe that Matt ends up as a plastic surgeon. That kid is messed up, but that seems a bit too much. I fear it.

I thought this episode was also by far the best of the season! Actually, it was better than all of the previous season's episodes.
Escobar is a great cast member, he steals a lot of scenes when he is on. However, I was kinda glad to see his storyline more or less come to a conclusion.
I suppose anything is possible and he could return, but after last night's episode it seems as if his stortline is wrapped up. It also may put a stop on Sean's hallucinations about Escobar. Maybe. We will see, I suppose.
Normally the sex scenes in this show are either embarassing/awkward (male buttocks gallore for shock value) or under the weirdest predicaments. I thought it was intensely (and refreshingly) passionate to see Sean's and Julia's chemistry in their sex scene. Seems like the two actors are really comfortable with each other now in the fourth season and is reflected onscreen. The really went at it and there was no awkwardness. Quite different for the typical Nip/Tuck sexcapades.
The Marlowe character seemed ridiculous at first but I see the writers are carefully tip-toeing around the cliches about little people. Example, Christian laughs when Sean tells him about Julia/Marlowe affair. Sean starts to suggest to CHristian about the "size" difference, but Christian says no, that's not what's funny. Instead it is poetic justice that Sean and Julia each slept with a nanny.
I think the actor playing Marlowe is genuine and comes across well. His character has a bit of oddness to him which adds another dimention which makes it all work in some twisted Nip/Tuck multi-ring circus.
Another ring of the circus involves Matt and Kimber. Weird subplot that I suppose will come to fruition later on. I thought it was interesting that they ruled out Christian as being the baby's daddy and at the same time NOT saying it is Matt's baby (but implying it). With a loophole this big in the Nip/Tuck circus, any Try family member could be the baby's daddy.
Also, Kimber treats Matt like crap, and he likes it. Weird.
Great episode, lots of plot development (although the Liz/Poppy thing as well as Michelle/Burt disappeared. Burt & Michelle were mentioned briefly but not in substance.
Next episode is a flash-forward? Another dream sequence that seems to pop up every other episode in Nip/Tuck? I dunno, doesn't seem like it will measure up to this past episode.

This episode solved some conclusions in past seasons. Everything that Escobar and Merrill well true but suprised what happened in the surgery room but Im glad Escobar lived. Matt and Kimber getting married really shocked me....as usual Christian ego got in way to think Kimber is having his baby. Sean and Juilia revealing their affairs....what going to happen to their relationship. This gonna be interesting final episodes coming up in few weeks.

Boblit dosen't know everything if you payed attention, Escobar tells you that he only let Boblit in on a tiny bit so he could stir up the doctors a bit. This was one of the better espisodes lately
