In response to all the buzz about Studio 60's weak ratings and whispers of its possible cancellation, one die-hard fan is taking evasive action. Clay Johnson has launched SaveStudio60.com, where he has an online petition to keep the show on the air and encourages readers to buy things from the companies that advertise on Studio 60 (although, I think this tactic is far-fetched because I don't think Apple is going to deduce that you bought an iPod because you saw one advertised on Studio 60). Johnson says the show is worth keeping on the air simply because it's "smart television". So far, 1,000 people have signed the petition.Johnson launched the website after the fourth episode of Studio 60 as a pre-emptive strike to encourage the network not to put it on hiatus or cancel it outright. He points to internet movements to save Firefly (which led to the movie, Serenity) and Arrested Development, which also couldn't be saved, and suggests that early action may be the key to saving a show.
It's an admirable effort, and I agree that Studio 60 needs a full season. However, I'd like to start a petition to move it to a decent night and time.

The urge to hurl rushed through me after reading that.

This is a real catch-22 for me. I love the show. It is smart and very well written. However, I know I can't get attached because the premise was doomed from the start. First off, you have the big numbers from the premiere episode because it was full of people who thought this would be another "West Wing". Then you have a new set of viewers who love stand up and shows like "Saturday Night Live". Then week two hit. The "West Wing" viewers were gone, and it seems that there aren't enough people who care about the behind-the-scenes drama that unfolds about these types of shows. It's a shame that reality garbage like Survivor continues to exist, and shows like this are thrown aside.

Seriously. I can't even WATCH Studio 60 by now. I'm all for keeping smart, literate television (and smart comedies in particular) on the air, but just because something is intelligent doesn't mean it's good. I'd much rather see people spend their credibility trying to save a show that actually merits saving, rather than one that could be better if given a chance. Not to mention that there are other shows on the air that satirize what's wrong with American society without being insulting and talking down to the audience.

I think the show is great and I will sign the petition.
It was refreshing to watch a show that you had to actally pay attention. Most of the stuff on you can read a book and watch and not miss a beat. I though Matthew Perry is wonderful. It's like "House" most folks just don't get it. I don't think it was ever meant to be a comedy. Am I the only one sick of all the reality shows? I see enough real life every day I watch tv for a reason to be entertained. Keep Studio 60 going.

Well, the moment I heard about this show I knew it would never be popular. I wish I had gone to Vegas and bet that it would be cancelled before the end of its first season. The fact that people in television and TV critics thought this show would be popular shows how isolated they are. Why would anyone every want to watch a deadly serious show about a bunch of over-paid self important perople putting on a comedy show. No one on earth who does not live in LA can relate to the show.
Here are afew simple rules of TV. A funny show can be made about a serious topic: Mary Tyler Moore Show about TV News and Boston Legal about law for example; a
serious show can be made about a serious topic, Law and Order and the Practice about Law or the West Wing about politics. But no one wants to watch a serious show about making a comedy because it is a very boring and stupid thing to watch-Studio 60 is horrible televison-if you wanted a show about the making of TV that would explore politics and relationships-how about a serious show about the making of a 60 Minutes or Dateline NBC show or how the Evening News is produced or CNN or Fox-now that would be interesting-actual real world politics and the actual manipulation of the News to favor certian political and big business interests-that would be controversial TV-who the hell cares about sketch comedy!

When NBC announced Studio 60's cast and writers, I was thrilled, expecting a return to the literate, fast-paced dialogue and compelling stories characterized in the early West Wing years. Unfortunately, that hasn't turned out to be the case. And it's not simply a matter of punching up the script or improving on-screen chemistry among the cast. The story concept just isn't compelling. It was a nice try, but I won't miss Studio 60 when it's gone.

I am happy to sign the petition to save Studio 60 - it is simply the best new show this year. I think the scripts are witty and smart, and I am finding the characters more interesting as we get to know them better. Guest star Eli Wallach's role was touching, and allowed us to get to know Timothy Busfield's character a little more. Matthew Perry is terrific, and I think that Amanda Peet is refreshing - (although it's hard to believe there could be a nice, smart and caring TV executive???!!!)Thank God for my DVR!

I am so sick of reading about people who think this show makes you think. Yes, it does. It makes me think I could write more riveting storylines.
Yes, I have been watching it, more to see if it will actually live up to any expectation rather than because I enjoy it. It's kind of like voting, I can't complain about who's been elected unless I vote; I can't complain about this show unless I watch.
I have to again go back to the episode "The Wrap Party" where Eli Wallach took a picture off the wall and was wandering around. It took me approximately 30 seconds to know he was in the picture and used to work in the studio. When that tidbit was revealed they acted like it was the unveiling of the century. Top that with the "black humor" portion of the show, and you have some incredibly bad writing. Yes, the "humor" about chicken and treating women poorly was hideously indicitive of what everyone expects of "black humor" but the dude they found at the comedy club was just plain unfunny. Because he can write an article about what really pains blacks doesn't mean he can be funny about it.
That whole show was just pointing to average America to tell us how stupid we are, when the actual lack of intelligence was in the writing itself. That's not only demeaning to America, its just plain pathetic.

Studio 60 is a horrible show, the comedy sketches that are in the show are not funny at all and unlike other shows I don't care about those boring characters. I really do hope this crap gets canceled.

This is sad, not because Studio 60 will be canceled, but because there are so many better shows that should be saved. Studio 60 is drivel compared to this season's best new shows like Friday Night Lights and The Nine. THOSE shows need saving. Studio 60 should just die a silent death.

Studio 60 is the smartest and most culturally relevant show to come along in years. The news that it is going to be cut only makes me think the network (NBC) is as scared of it as the NBS executives are of the fictitious sketch subjects on the show.

All of you bitching that this is not good tv can't possibly have seen the John Goodman as judge episode.
I'll admit that it isn't as demanding as, say Deal or No Deal. Now THATS entertainment. Greedy pinheads on parade...it's bound to be a winner.
To Carrisa...I'll say if you can write better you should sell all your shit and move to LA now.
To Hank...Can't there be Friday Night Lights, The Nine and Studio 60?
Finally to Dave...just because YOU don't want to watch Stephen Hawking for an hour doesn't mean that others won't. (Brief History of Time)?
