See? See? I do report on FOX News things!
The cable network not only has nine of the top ten news shows, it also celebrated it's 250th week as being #1. Yay! Balloons and candy for everyone! (Though the network is down 17% in the daytime numbers from last year, and down 25% in primetime).
Over on MSNBC, the news is good too. The network's ratings are up, which kind of depresses me because they're up since started that damn "doc block" and heading towards more taped feature programming. But Countdown with Keith Olbermann is up 67%, and that's a very telling number.
In other cable news news, remember when Anderson Cooper was brought in to co-host Aaron Brown's show, and then Brown was shown the door? Look who's co-hosting Paula Zahn's show over on CNN. Hmmm...

He is the nation’s televised face of sneering, drooling Bush hatred. Olbermann’s October has been a festival of long and feverish commentaries, repeatedly sending the message that we’re presently living under a terrorist and a dictator. He’s claimed "the leading terrorist group in this country right now is the Republican Party." That the Bush team “have institutionalized the terrorizing of the opposition. True domestic terror.” Even talking about 9/11 is described as “gruesome, intentional, terroristic invocations yesterday of the horrors of 9/11.” Olbermann is so feverish even Laura Bush is evil, as “the First Lady silently sticks the knife in Michael J. Fox's back.”

As much as I hate to agree (and as much as I hate Bush), Olbermann has willingly become a caricature of himself over the past month or so and I can no longer watch him.

Hey Mike, if you're going to be an idiotic dittohead troll, the least you could do is come up with something original to say instead of plagiarizing someone else's material.
Case in point: http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=NTlkZTcwN2IyODE5ZWNlZmU4MDk2MTE4NGU2ZTE3M2E=
So you don't like Olbermann. Big deal. We get it. However, I find it difficult to believe you ever actually watch his show. I don't watch O'Reilly so I don't go everywhere I can and bust his balls about being a jingoistic fascistic uninformed pig, do I? (No, I don't. I have a life. Try it sometime Mike, it can fun.)
If you have a legitimate gripe about Olbermann's work, and I don't mean his attitude or his delivery or his hair or his voice, I mean the actual content of his show: his words, his writing, etc. then go ahead and talk about it. Does KO feature mostly correspondents from left-wing sources? Yes, because they support his point of view. (O'Reilly does the same thing on the other side. What a surprise!) Does Olbermann get a lot of mileage out of bashing Bush over what he perceives are shortcoming, omissions, atrocities and general mistakes committed by the Bush Administration and its supporters? Yes, because that's his interpretation of current events and many people agree with him.
So Mike, if you want to complain about Olbermann, cite your own examples and use your own words. But first, grow some balls and be a man about it.

After 9/11 I started watched MSNBC all the time. I just kept the TV on in the background while I worked at home. But a few months ago I changed the channel to another news network. Not only has MSNBC thrown away any attempt at being nonpartisan, but they've gone so far to the left that it only appeals to the lunatic fringe. They sold their soul to the liberal extremists for a bump in the ratings, but it cost them their loyal longtime viewers.

In saying that Fox has "nine of the top ten news shows" you're assuming that what they do is news. Everything they do in the evening is commentary and "analysis", using the loosest definition of that term.
However, it's the same on the other news/entertainment cable channels. And the broadcast news operations are moving in that direction.
BTW, Olbermann's show would be a lot better if they didn't stuff so many commercials into it. I'm wearing out the fast forward button on my TiVo remote. :-)

As much as most people hate Fox, they pioneered the analysis/opinion show - and its working, albeit a bit less for them and a bit more for their competitor.

wow elf, pretty tough stuff. I feel really bad about all of this. No, not really.
If it makes you feel better, it came from NRO. They seemed to sum it up perfectly.
Now, do you feel better? Or should I kick you in the balls instead and see if you are a man?

Tim, how is Olbermann's show any different than anything done on FOX? It's the exact same schtick just with opposite politics.
Elf, why isn't it okay to criticize Olbermann's delivery? If people don't like smug arrogant talking blow hards (like O'Reilly and Olbermann) shouldn't they be free to voice that opinion?

Yes, once again, mike has demonstrated the intellectual and moral bankruptcy of your right-wing blog troll.
Step 1) Parrot the party line (though it's never good form to outright copy something without giving attribution)
Step 2) When called on said parrotting, threaten physical violence
Step 3) Profit!
