Michael Cera brings the indie rock

Michael CeraMr. Manager Michael Cera has been busy since Arrested Development wrapped. There's the stand-up act, but far more interesting and sorta sweet, is Cera's indie rocking persona with The Long Goodbye. The three man-boy group features Cera on guitar and taking an occasional turn at the mic. Among its influences, the group lists Weezer, Brian Wilson, Sufjan Stevens and The Decemberists. They've got a touch of Mountain Goats and M. Ward in there, too. And, surprise, they don't suck.

There's not much chance Cera will go the way of My So-Called Life's Jared Leto who let us all down with his transformation from uber-heartthrob Jordan Catalano to blogger-hating, faux-goth leader of 30 Seconds to Mars.

If you take a look at Long Goodbye's homemade videos, you'll see that they are exactly the kind of band you would hope George Michael would grow up to be in -- the indie kind that tours in a beat-up van and plays the Pitchfork Festival rather than the MTV Music Awards. Unfortunately, due to Cera's Charlie Brown turn as a Bluth, they may never be able to escape the word "adorable."
