Designing Women's Broadway babies

Designing WomenSteel Magnolias started out as a stage play, so why not give the Sugarbaker sisters a place on the Great White Way?

At a recent Designing Women cast reunion at the Museum of Television and Radio, show creator Linda Bloodworth-Thomason revealed that she had secured backing for a Broadway production of the show that would pick up with the gals today - still working at the design firm and still cracking wise on what's wrong with the world today.

I'd certainly like to hear what the Emmy Award-nominated creator of the classic Delta Burke-centered episode "They Shoot Fat Women, Don't They?" would have to say about reality television, Nicole Richie and our current obsession with baby bumps. All the better if it's being said by Dixie Carter, who played the original Julia Sugarbaker and has more than a few stage credits to her name.

Designing Women joined the Nick at Night lineup on October 2nd after a decade spent on Lifetime.
