(S02E04) Is Marjorie being written out of the show and I just missed reading about it? Sarah Lancaster is still in the opening credits as part of the cast, but she's barely been in the show since she skipped out on her own wedding and last we saw her it was Minneapolis or bust. At this point, I'm thinking she will be back but it might be a few more episodes and the writers will spring her on us at the moment we least expect it. The only question that remains is who will she come home for, Brian or Adam?
Regardless, I'm kind of liking the show without her. It forces everyone to keep doing what they're doing with the possibility that she isn't coming back looming over their heads. And what better way to start the post-Marjorie era than with a contest between Brian and Adam? At least that's what Ivy suggests. The first one to get laid doesn't have to pay for the damages they caused in last week's bar brawl.
Brian ended up winning and you won't guess with who. Car girl anyone? Amy Jo Johnson, the Pink Ranger herself, was back as Karen. Remember her? Flipped out, locked Brian out of his apartment, and ended up leaving poor Needle in Brian's care? Well she's back and as long as Marjorie isn't in the picture I'm thinking Karen might be around for a while which sucks because she's horribly annoying and self-centered.
Adam, on the other hand, never got any meaningless sex but he has struck up a potential relationship with the stripper he met at his bachelor party. Heather (aka Summer) seems to be pretty down to Earth and to top things off, she's going to be a doctor. Should be familiar territory for Adam. Again, as long as the ex is no longer around, I'm sure we'll see more of Heather.
Much like last week, and it still sort of bugs me, Dave and Deena were a focal point for this episode. Dave finally broke things off with Suzanne, who in turn leaked their video game to a free download site. This was after Brian drained every account and took out numerous loans to buy back the game for $75,000 because the publishing company decided to shelve it indefinitely. Well Zap Monkey owns the game... but now who's going to buy it? So because Dave ended things with Suzanne, she effectively ruined Brian and Dave and now Brian is in giant debt to boot. Needless to say he was pissed. I thought Dave had told Brian that he was sleeping with her though? Guess not. With everything that's gone on now, Dave finally ended it with Deena too. No job, no wife... I'm thinking we may see Dave head downhill and fast.
Nice turn by William Devane as Brian's father. There are definitely some issues between the two of them and it'll be interesting to see how that unfolds. Now that Zap Monkey is no longer and Brian needs cash ASAP, he might finally be forced to take a job with his father's company. He clearly doesn't want to do that though and I think his father may be even more of a jerk than he's letting on. There's some history there.
The ending, while fine, was no surprise. Angelo has finally been killed off. On his way from the airport to surprise Nic at the baby shower, he was in a car accident. It's about time they wrapped that one up but as I've said before, I liked Angelo a lot more than I like Jimmy and Ivy. It'll be rough to see Nic deal with this though... she seems like a crier. Any predictions for the next episode? Perhaps they all join together to take down Rita Repulsa when Brian starts dating her after Karen? Anyone?

I didn't like them killing off Angelo either. I loved the episode last season when all he wanted to do watch the World Cup. The whole story line of her using fertilization drugs when he didn't want her to put them in a bad spot. I didn't think that was a good way to start that couple for us so I guess they wanted to get that out of the way with the character too.
I like Dave and Deena so I don't mind their story line at all. I'm glad Nic told Deena it was her fault, because it was. Deena started this whole mess with the "open" marriage.
You have to love Amy Jo! I miss Felicity.

I half expected that Brian would hook up with Marjorie in the bet. Then Brian could spend a couple episodes keeping that fact away from Adam, only to have both Adam and Marjorie find out (maybe at the same time), and have it blow up in Brian's face. Marjorie feels cheated that they only got together because of the bet, and Adam feel betrayed. But I guess that's just too obvious. As much as I like Angelo in the storyline over Jimmy, it's good that the writers addressed by killing him off as opposed to ignoring it or replacing him. I think Ivy has a lot of potential, and is good for a bit of comic relief. Sometimes between Dave, Brian, and Adam the show gets pretty serious and down on itself

This is one of those cases where we had already seen the FINAL 30 seconds of a show in previews...way to ruin it.
So Brian has to get a real job? Like the rest of us, except we're not going to bed with the Pink Power Ranger.
Poor Brian.
