I just got off the phone with Dino Stamatopoulos, creator of Moral Orel (look for the interview soon), and since I just finished talking with someone for over an hour about animation and comedy I thought I would indulge myself with a kind of "fantasy post" I've been wanting to do for a long time.
Below you will find a schedule that shows how I would program Adult Swim if it were its own twenty-four hour network. I guess the time zone would be CST, since I live in Minnesota, but don't worry about that, it's just for fun.
Since this only exists in my head, I didn't worry about whether it was actually possible for these shows to air on a Turner network. Also, I included both animated and live-action shows, because I like the idea of an Adult Swim network being about good shows, animated or otherwise. For the daytime hours, it's mostly animation, though I'm not sure I'm crazy about having Tiny Toons in there, but it seemed like a good fit. I also dedicated Sunday daytime to anime, because I think there would be an audience for it, and not because I actually watch anime (I admire it, but I don't really watch it that much).
I'd also like to see what you guys would come up with, so please share.
Monday through Saturday
5:00 AM to 1:30 PM:

Sundays
Sundays from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM would be dedicated to anime, with kid-friendly stuff shown in the morning, and action stuff more suitable to teens in the afternoon and early evenings. I would list specific shows, but I don't know nearly enough about anime to do that, so just fill in those blanks with your own imagination.
9:00 PM to 1:00 AM would be dedicated to the current Adult Swim Sunday lineup that exists in the real world right now. That's right, keep everything (except Pee-Wee's Playhouse) and as the schedule changes, rotate in reruns of these series:
The Brak Show
Space Ghost: Coast to Coast
Baby Blues
Home Movies
Saddle Rash
The Oblongs
Welcome to Eltingville
Mission Hill
Perfect Hair Forever
Sealab 2021
Stroker & Hoop
Cartoon Planet
At 1:00 AM, return to anime with a full-length, uncut and unedited anime movie
From whenever the movie ends to 5:00 AM Monday morning, show these lost MTV/MTV2 series:
Sifl and Olly
Liquid Television
Wonder Showzen
Beavis and Butthead
Also, toss in other shows like The Maxx, The Head, Aeon Flux, and The Brothers Grunt, if those are any good. I never watched them. No Daria or Celebrity Deathmatch, though, sometimes a man has to put his foot down.

I wrote that I would keep everything that exists on the schedule right now:
"9:00 PM to 1:00 AM would be dedicated to the current Adult Swim Sunday lineup that exists in the real world right now. That's right, keep everything..."
I just said that rather than list all the shows.

People, seriously.
I said I would NOT get rid of anything that's currently on the Adult Swim schedule. That means that everything that airs on Adult Swim right now would still remain in my little programming fantasy.

I just dont get why you couldnt have listed everything currently on the schedule. Too bad a 24/7 adult swim will never happen and that Viacom will never let their quality shows be shown again.

Overall good list, but just a few major omissions:
1. Arrested Development
2. Freaks and Geeks; Undeclared
3. The Daily Show; The Colbert Report
4. The Larry Sanders show
5. The Office (both)
6. Entourage
7. It's always sunny in Philadelphia
8. MXC
Minor ommissions include the following shows:

3. Coupling (england)
4. X-Men; Spiderman; Justice League
Just a few off the top of my head.

I would order more episodes of Squidbillies, and give it a decent time slot. I would also include old episodes of Pinwheel in the early morning, because I like the claymation worms, and I think the college-age-morning-stoner demographic would enjoy it. For the cartoon classics section, I would include "Lambert the sheepish Lion." I would also throw "Mr. T's Be Somebody, or Be Somebody's Fool" in there.
I also strongly agree with Pete 'N Pete, Mr. Show, and The State.

Adam, you're my hero.
It's kind of like a hybrid of what Cartoon Network AND Comedy Central ought to be. I dig it. There was this short lived cartoon 'Undergrads' that I would recommend be put in the rerun rotation. And possibly Gary & Mike (claymation, starring Harland Williams).
And what was that classic cartoon with the elusive koala and the wolf? I remember that from my yout'

You had me at "The Adventures of Pete and Pete," but you will keep me with "Animaniacs!"
I have the Animaniacs "soundtrack" (on cassette no less) and my 18 month old daughter absolutely loves it! I wish I could find it on TV somewhere, 'cause I'm cheap and lazy and don't want to look for it on dvd.
