I am very frustrated with NBC this fall because I think the executives are wimpy. The network had an awesome schedule last May during the upfronts but then the powers-that-be balked when they saw the other networks' schedules and they changed everything around so that nothing made sense. This week, NBC finally did something right when it reorganized its Thursday night line-up. But the rest of the week still sucks. As I was putting together my make-believe NBC schedule, I discovered a few problems with NBC programming. First, there are way too many franchises of Law & Order. They're hard to place in decent time slots, especially since Sunday nights are occupied by football. I also discovered that it's very hard, yet very necessary, to split up 30 Rock and Studio 60. I assumed 20 Good Years is cancelled, and I said to hell with what the other networks are doing, I'm making a line-up that makes sense.
Check out my NBC schedule after the jump, and tell me how you'd do it:
Sunday
8pm: NFL
Monday
8 pm: Deal or No Deal
9 pm: Biggest Loser
10 pm: Dateline NBC
Tuesday
8 pm: Scrubs
8:30 pm: 30 Rock
9 pm: Law & Order: SVU
10 pm: ER
Wednesday
8 pm: Friday Night Lights
9 pm: Kidnapped
10 pm: Law & Order
Thursday
8 pm: My Name is Earl
8:30 pm: The Office
9 pm: Studio 60
10 pm: Heroes
Friday
8 pm: Deal or No Deal
9 pm: Las Vegas
10 pm: Law & Order: Criminal Intent

Oh, I like your schedual. But NBC would never, ever move ER from it's Thursday night spot. No matter how much I beg and plead.
However, you can recreate this schedual with TIVO.

I disagree with Wed and Thurs 'cause Heroes doesn't belong at 10pm ... it's too late. I'd do this : On Wed ... start of w/ FNL, Heroes, Kidnapped and on Thurs ... Start w/ the comedy hour then Studio 60 and then L&O. I know those two don't really mesh as well as Kidnapped and L&O but I still think it's worth it to keep the comedies leading into a funny drama and it keeps Heroes and Studio 60 at reasonable hours.

"ER" makes sense on Tuesday AND Thursday. I have often wondered why NBC franchises "Law and Order" but not "ER" or "The West Wing."
During the "Wing" heyday, NBC had a show about a U.S. Senator, but the character didn't originate on or exist in the "Wing" universe.
And why pilot Rob Lowe -- fresh off of "Wing" as a young lawyer in "Lyon's Den" and NOT make him Sam Seaborn?
"ER" could have followed any number of character that left to another show, spun off a paramedic's show, etc.
Seems like a lot of wasted opportunities.

I like the schedule, but NBC will not move ER to save their life. On another not why did they move Kidnapped to Sat night, its a good show that doesn't belong on Sat night.

if i was in charge of NBC, i would cancel Deal or No Deal. Well, actually I wouldn't because this show gets the ratings as stupid as it is.
ER needs to stay on Thursdays until it is cancelled. Moving it would kill the show.
But i definitely agree, Studio 60 needs a better time slot to keep it alive. It needs to stay in the 9 o'clock hour somewhere.

Ooh, pretty good schedule, though I'd make a few bumps.
Monday: DOND, Heroes, Dateline
Tuesday: Biggest Loser, Scrubs, 30 Rock, L&O SVU
Wednesday: same as yours
Thursday: same, except ER in the Heroes Slot
Friday: same as yours
This way NBC keeps ER where it needs to be, Scrubs and 30 Rock can be more fun in the 9pm hour, and Heroes can be on its own as an event on Monday, with Dateline doing silly features like "Real life Heroes. How everyday people make a difference." You go Stone Phillips, you go.

Monday
Deal or No Deal, Biggest Loser, Dateline NBC
Tuesday
Scrubs, 30 Rock, Las Vegas, Kidnapped
Wednesday
Friday Night Lights, Heroes, Law & Order
Thursday
My Name is Earl, The Office, Studio 60, ER
Friday
Deal or No Deal, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: SVU
Moved Las Vegas to after 30 Rock and infront of ER. Those audiences seem most alike. Plus sinking Las Vegas on a friday night is likely to lose the viewers who want to go out on Fridays, but also like the Las Vegas lifestyle and therefore the show.
Put Friday Night Lights and Heroes together hoping to steal the younger audience on Wednesday. Heroes at 9pm would also stand to gain viewers who are looking for something other than LOST. Fans of both should buy a DVR.
Putting Studio 60 on Thursday night is a bold move and might get that show the audience it deserves. ER is the odd man out on Thursday nights, but the writting and acting is better this season so it deserves to keep its spot at the top of the food chain.
There ya go!

I'm sorry, but moving Studio 60 to the Grey's/CSI spot, is a death knell. That is why i am very conserered for Scrubs and 30 Rock. I just can't see them succuceding in that time spot.
CSI is still a juguranut and Grey's is reaching that height. Keep DOND there. Puting anything else in that time spot is death.

The schedule looks great but I'm not quite sure why you'd put Studio 60 up against CSI and Grey's Anatomy. I'm sure that the remaining 3 people still watching Studio 60 (myself included) will choose the one of the other two shows instead.
On the other hand, shows like deal/no deal or a comedy block might actually have a bit of a chance since they would attract other demographics.

Why bother programming Kidnapped? Its dead. NBC banished it to Saturday to finish out its initial 13 episode order then its gone.

Monday's fine by me, but ER's not moving from Thursdays, not does it have to. I really think they wasted the power of the L&O's by putting two of them together and not using one of them with Kidnapped. Personally I would have put the original at 9 on Wednesday and had it lead into Kidnapped. That seems like an obvious choice to me. I, too, thought Studio 60 looked great on Thursdays regardless of the competition, but that was before I saw it and it vastly disappointed. Still, I would have let it sink or swim there, as it's different and smarter than everything else on at that time. I think Heroes would be a better fit on Tuesdays after 30 Rock (10PM is WAY too late for a show with such broad appeal), with maybe SVU following. Fridays also look fine, as Criminal Intent seemed to be doing well there - it seems to me that you shouldn't mess with something that's doing well on Friday nights.

Studio 60 would have died even quicker.
And Maricles should be paired up with Heros.
Both yours and NBC's schedule to me is shitty, but I think that's just because it's NBC.

While I agree that NBC will NEVER move ER, I really think they should.
Anna's Thursday schedule is perfect.
If people love ER enough, they'll find a way to watch it...if not...oh well.

Why in the world is kidnapped even on your schedule? It bombed with just under 6 million viewers. Scrubs at Tuesday at 8 -- where Friday Night Lights is struggling against DWTS and later American Idol???? The only thing that is working with NBC's schedule is ER and Heroes you wanna move them too? Studio 60 is struggling now at mondays and you wanna put it up against Grey's Anatomy and CSI???? They should bring back Crossing Jordan
