Joe Pantoliano is not letting the canceled CBS drama Waterfront die an anonymous death.
Pantoliano and other members of the Waterfront crew, including the girl who plays his daughter on the show, showed up at the Tazza Cafe in Providence, RI the other night to show two episodes of the series for the crowd. The show was about the mayor of Providence and a lot of it was filmed on location. CBS pulled the series without even showing a single episode, saying it was too expensive and that there were creative differences.
But Pantoliano says its more than that, and uses as an example CBS' decision to put 3 Lbs in the slot vacated by the now-canceled Smith. 3 Lbs is a Paramount show. Paramount is owned by the same company that owns CBS, Viacom. Waterfront is a Warner Brothers show, and Pantoliano thinks that CBS wants to air one of their own shows instead of another show.
He wants to finish the episodes they were working on and show them to the public and see if they like it or not.

Viacom does not own CBS. It used to, but now it doesn't.

There is no doubt that when a show costs quite a bit of money - money which the network must give to the studio, they often loose money - advertising goes to the network, but if its not their studio then syndication and merchandise means nothing to them.
Its basic buisness that the network will prefer its own in-house content when both a large priced.

CBS has the TV & Movie studio
Viacom has thee TV properties, such as MTV.

Viacom owns Paramount Pictures and numerous cable properties. You said CBS has the movie studio, and that's absolutely wrong.
CBS owns the network, Paramount TV and some of the cable properties.

Just as Pantoliano says, I think, "its more than that". Perhaps Waterfront was beginning to tell the story of the RI independent man. This idea makes sense today as so many people are attacking or at least questioning the Bill of Rights. Looking back in time, Rhode Island would not join the Union unless the Bill of Rights was made law. George Washington thought Rouges' Islanders a bunch of scondrels, but recognised them as his most reliable troops.
We are an unusual lot; remaining independent in thinking while becoming the first american industrial center. It is a story worth knowing and perhaps Waterfront with Joey Pants were starting to get close to it.
Religious beliefs not condoned elsewhere were praciticed in this fair state.
We were comanded by a Quaker general during the revolution, and that in itself is revolutionary.
The state and the state police would not support prohibition.
Is our state of gray not suited for Hollywood's black and white ball?
If Pantoliano is Joey Pants, I remain David Waterbucket
