The O.C. is one of those shows that I did watch at one point, but the show quickly changed into something I was embarrassed to admit I ever watched at all. Like Beverly Hills 90210 or Melrose Place. I caught the first season of The O.C., but I just couldn't stomach any more of it. That's why it pains me that Fox sent me some O.C. swag (or should I say "siag") that I can't give away, and that I'd only fully appreciate if I were a 16 year-old fan of the show. And a girl.First thing I see when I open the box makes me wonder who Fox was trying to impress:
OK, I'll at least say that the fact they try to make it sound so luxurious with the "Eau de Toilette" branding made me laugh. But seeing as they say I can't give this shit away, what do I do with it? Oh, the toilet? Brilliant.
At this point I'm wondering if maybe Fox thinks the majority of press covering The O.C. are, in fact, in high school and could use something like this. Look, I'm not sitting around crossing my fingers and praying I'm getting anything useful out of these boxes, but when it's something like this and something we can't give away to you fine folks, I've gotta wonder. I mean, there have to be a bazillion O.C. fans who'd kill to have this bag. Look at the pins on it:

Lastly, here's something the press can use: the DVD with the first four episodes of the season, along with a cast bio book in the form of a comic book (which I admit is a pretty cool idea -- isn't Seth a comic book geek or something?)

So you can't give it away? What if I were to run into you in new york, and uhhh steal it from you? My sister digs the show and falls into the demographic you described.

I'M AFRAID THAT IF THEY MOVE AMERICAN IDOL TO THURSDAY AT 9 I WOULD HAVE TO QUIT WATCHING IT. I'VE WATCHED EVERY SHOW SINCE IT FIRST STARTED AIRING, BUT GREY'S ANATOMY WOULD WIN OUT. PLEASE LEAVE IT WHERE IT IS, THERE IS NOTHING NOTABLE TO WATCH ON IT'S TIME SLOT, AND I DO LIKE IT ALOT. THANK YOU

Yeah, why can't you give it away? I'm not familiar with these rules. I'll take it off your hands, happily.

LOL. When I heard they were sending TV critics the first 4 episodes on DVD, I thought they just sent the DVD. But the rest of the stuff is ridiculous. The bag, et al? RIDICULOUS. I guess they think even their TV critics are 12 years old.
But let us know if the first 4 episodes are good. Some people said it was excellent but given that you seem to be as OC-hater as I am (well, of everything post S1 of The OC), I believe your review will be more useful for me than fans reviews. :)

I'm very curious to see how this season will fare in the ratings with the lovely Barton gone from the show and the kids are off to college. I'm not even sure Josh Schwartz can save this season, but you never know with those care packages sent out - it can definitely get people excited:)
