Gilligans Island pilot theme song - VIDEO
by Brett Love, posted Oct 18th 2006 11:34AM
There are a lot of great things about the internet, and unearthing crazy stuff like this is one of them. I've heard a few different versions of the Gilligan's Island theme song over the years, including The Sweaty Nipples singing the song to the music of Greenday's Longview. Of all of them though, this one is the worst. Telling you it is the worst is probably not the best way to sell you on the video, but it's one of those 'so bad you have to see it' things. Whoever decided to redo the theme song was about as right as anyone has ever been in television. Take a look for yourself, the video is after the jump.

oh yah, that was terrible.
It could be we think it is so bad since the theme song we all know and love is so iconic.
But eww. That was a stinker.
My favorite "version" of the theme song would have to be the mash up version of it sung to the tune of Stairway to Heaven.

Hate to break it to you, but that is the REAL original theme song to Gilligan's Island. It was only used once for the pilot episode, and is included on the DVD box sets.

ummm Joe, I think that is quite obvious. Look at the title of this article.

The reason this song was ever made was for the Original Pilot. It is not a remake, but the original song before they went on to make lots of changes. They didn't even use Mary Ann, Ginger or the Professor... they used three other people in this pilot. Get the 1st season on DVD and you will be able to see it.

Eh, read it a little too fast. When you and Brett were comparing it to remade versions, I must have thought that you thought it was a new version of the song. My bad. :-(

I think Joe was talking to them above who don't know.

Worst?
I actually liked it. It wasn't as succinct as the one we all know and love, but I appreciate the Carribbean beat.
Just one question...
The Minnow was based in Hawaii and lost in the South Pacific. So, why a Caribbean song? Wrong ocean!
Also... the singer uses the word "Carramba" which is not Carribbean but Mexican.
But, besides that... it was, erm... quaint. Yea, that's the word... QUAINT.
Rhymes with ain't.

It's only a show Dwayne.
If you wanna get "technical" you could ask a better question like...
Why would a millionaire and his wife take a cruise on a small ship like the Minnow when they could afford a luxury liner.
