(S03E03) Finally, a new episode for me. Hey, it's harder than you think when you watch the first two episodes over a month ago. I feel a lot better about this season after seeing this episode. I didn't get the feeling like they were rushing us through the main mystery of this portion of the season, and instead we had a nice mini mystery thrown in.Finally we see Weevil, who seems to have put on a few pounds, no? It was very ... weird seeing Weevil with a tie. At first I was disappointed that Weevil couldn't stick around as Keith's assistant, but really his job at Hearst is just perfect. Now Veronica's got a replacement for her lackey at Neptune High, Wallace.
Speaking of the dean, hey everyone, it's Ed Begley Jr. as Dean O'Dell! Was he a better choice than Michael McKean? I guess we'll never know, but I'm sure satisfied. And you definitely get that Neptune principal-like camaraderie going on already, as though Veronica will be both the savior and the bane of O'Dell's existence.
Random thought: Isn't it ironic that Veronica works at the information desk at the library?
I used to be a big console and PC gamer, and now I feel like I'm missing out when people talk about Guitar Hero. Is it really all that? I think Kurt had the inflection wrong. When you're asked if Guitar hero Rocks, you don't say, "yeah, it does." You say: "YEAH IT DOES!"
Where's Logan's yellow Xtera? I think it was mentioned before that there was a plan to give Logan a new car, but I didn't remember him actually losing the relatively new looking one he had before.
Random thought #2: Is it just me or was that dorm room with the gambling going on simply fricken huge? Has anyone else had a dorm room that big?
Veronica activating Logan's cell GPS really was a frightening move. The sheer lack of trust she had in doing that would be enough to scare off any sane man. Obviously when it comes to Veronica, Logan's not all that right in the head now, is he?
Not that I'm all for the "LoVe" action, but there's just not enough funny Logan action going on in this show. Where are all the great lines? What's with all the moping around and brief appearances? Hopefully the end of this episode gives some indication that he'll be around more often.
Random thought #3: Those Lampoon guys ... not remotely funny. Who wrote their lines? "It's good to be the Dean?" Please.
And then there's yet another rape on campus. Isn't it time for more serious law to take charge of the situation over there at Hearst? I mean, is Lamb really doing anything at all about what's going on? It's a serial rapist for crying out loud! Did you notice that in both pictures (the real picture with the topless women and then the one with the guys) there was the same guy on the right, sitting down with a maroon shirt on? Clue perhaps?
Quote of the episode:
Keith: "Didn't he get busted for murder?"
Veronica: "Assault!"
Keith: "Yeah, see ... he's not even a good murderer."

Linda -- You don't get many of the crafty episode titles on Veronica Mars, do you? The episode title's correct.

This is a guilty pleasure for those of us of the testosterone persuasion... but is so incredibly well written and acted, one can't stay away! Hopefully it gets another summer run on CBS.

I just can't understand why Veronica and Logan are together. Sure, his character is entertaining to watch but they have so little to offer each other. They are so different.
It was good to see Weevil again and I thought it would make for an interesting relationship to see him continue working for Keith. Oh well, if he's working at Hearst we'll see more of him.

For me it's a sad day when I look forward to VM more than GG. This episode was good and I like Ed Begley Jr as the Dean. I knew she was going to solve the whole car thing to get him off her back but it was still entertaining. I'm glad Weevil is back and yeah, it would have been fun seeing him work with Keith but this is the next best thing. Veronica needs her muscle and access to any building on campus. I'm not feeling the whole Logan thing either so I wonder where that is going. I'm not against the whole LoVe thing but it's not looking good.
My favorite line was the dig at cheerleaders... Popcorn for Pop, cheerleaders are cleaver like that.

What a great Guitar Hero cameo... Yes, the game really is that good. One of the greatest - it's very, very common to see an exchange like that ("so I was playing guitar hero --" "dude, that game is so great!" "hell yeah" etc.)
As for the gambling room - I kind of got the impression it was in a frat house? Some of my friends rooms in fraternities were freaking enormous... I might have missed something though, my audio kept dropping out (stupid cable).
And I was thinking the same thing with the serial rapist thing... When I was in school, if someone even got mugged or something near campus they'd go crazy tightening security, etc.
Finally, the CW really needs to stop with the "tee-hee, Lifetime for teens" angle... I never really considered this show to be a "girly" show before (unlike Grey's), but all the crap surrounding it on CW is starting to make me feel a bit self-conscious about watching (like Grey's). If nothing else, it's just annoying.

i thought the depiction of how the college is handling the rapes was pretty spot on. and we know Lamb thinks the girls are all lying, so i can't imagine he'd intervene any more than he'd have to.
college rapes tend to get swept under the rug...sad fact, but true. in this case where it is a serial rapist, all campus security would do is send a letter or email to all the students to tell them to be more careful. colleges tend to avoid getting outside law enforcement involved at all costs.
anyone else find the stereotypical feminist nazi-image a bit much? i expect more from this show!

I noticed quite a few of you commented on the LoVe issue. I have always loved them together - but I do feel some of the chemistry is lacking. I wonder if they are doing that on purpose. Maybe the two actors no longer get along. It's too bad they are changing up this chemistry thing - I love VM and will always tune in - but the #1 draw to the show for me is LoVe - even if they are fighting I just love their interaction.

Keith, since you decided to be condescending rather than answer Linda's question, I'll ask again: Okay, I get the reference to the song "Wichita Lineman", but what's that got to do with adding an extra "t" to Wichita? I don't remember any witches in the ep.

Keith: according to the episode listing at www.cwtv.com, Linda is correct: they spelled "Wichita" like the city.
Also--man, Francis Capra has put on some weight! All that starchy prison food, I guess?

Well I guess TiVo, epguides.com and tv.com need to fix their spelling.

And it looks like CW has it spelled with a 'T', so not sure where you're looking:

This episode really made me feel better about season three. The first two episodes really weren't up to par, but I can feel that they will just keep getting better. Just to let everybody know, if you miss an episode, or just want to watch it again, go to http://www.youtube.com because people usually post the episodes on there. it usually takes them about a week to load them, and you'll have to watch it in 6 or 7 parts, but it's better than not seeing it at all, and no commercials. Just put in the search field "Veronica Mars 3x01" "Veronica Mars 3x02" or whatever number episode it is that you want, and it should bring up a page of them in "Part one" "Part two",etc.
Hope that's helpful to you, and also, where is Troy? I really, really like his character and I know he was at the visit to hearst in second season along with Veronica and Wallace, so I was hoping that meant he was going to attend Hearst in the fall with them, and be in the episodes more...I guess not becuase we haven't seen him yet, but maybe sometime soon?

this episode i thought was better then the 2nd one. Weevil did gain a lot of weight. I noticed it in the promo pitures. I was a little coufused with some of the guys in this episode! They all looked the same after a while. And where was Mac and Wallace. I feel like they have to leave out 2 or three people in each episode in order to get two or three people in each episode. make sense?
