Veronica Mars: Witchita Linebacker

veronica mars(S03E03) Finally, a new episode for me. Hey, it's harder than you think when you watch the first two episodes over a month ago. I feel a lot better about this season after seeing this episode. I didn't get the feeling like they were rushing us through the main mystery of this portion of the season, and instead we had a nice mini mystery thrown in.

Finally we see Weevil, who seems to have put on a few pounds, no? It was very ... weird seeing Weevil with a tie. At first I was disappointed that Weevil couldn't stick around as Keith's assistant, but really his job at Hearst is just perfect. Now Veronica's got a replacement for her lackey at Neptune High, Wallace.

Speaking of the dean, hey everyone, it's Ed Begley Jr. as Dean O'Dell! Was he a better choice than Michael McKean? I guess we'll never know, but I'm sure satisfied. And you definitely get that Neptune principal-like camaraderie going on already, as though Veronica will be both the savior and the bane of O'Dell's existence.

Random thought: Isn't it ironic that Veronica works at the information desk at the library?

I used to be a big console and PC gamer, and now I feel like I'm missing out when people talk about Guitar Hero. Is it really all that? I think Kurt had the inflection wrong. When you're asked if Guitar hero Rocks, you don't say, "yeah, it does." You say: "YEAH IT DOES!"

Where's Logan's yellow Xtera? I think it was mentioned before that there was a plan to give Logan a new car, but I didn't remember him actually losing the relatively new looking one he had before.

Random thought #2: Is it just me or was that dorm room with the gambling going on simply fricken huge? Has anyone else had a dorm room that big?

Veronica activating Logan's cell GPS really was a frightening move. The sheer lack of trust she had in doing that would be enough to scare off any sane man. Obviously when it comes to Veronica, Logan's not all that right in the head now, is he?

Not that I'm all for the "LoVe" action, but there's just not enough funny Logan action going on in this show. Where are all the great lines? What's with all the moping around and brief appearances? Hopefully the end of this episode gives some indication that he'll be around more often.

Random thought #3: Those Lampoon guys ... not remotely funny. Who wrote their lines? "It's good to be the Dean?" Please.

And then there's yet another rape on campus. Isn't it time for more serious law to take charge of the situation over there at Hearst? I mean, is Lamb really doing anything at all about what's going on? It's a serial rapist for crying out loud! Did you notice that in both pictures (the real picture with the topless women and then the one with the guys) there was the same guy on the right, sitting down with a maroon shirt on? Clue perhaps?

Quote of the episode:
Keith: "Didn't he get busted for murder?"
Veronica: "Assault!"
Keith: "Yeah, see ... he's not even a good murderer."
