The CW has ordered a pilot from Veronica Mars writer/executive producer Diane Ruggiero (pictured). The one hour action-comedy is being described as Sex and the City meets Batman. Yes, they are actually saying Sex and the City meets Batman. Two young women that are best friends gain superpowers after some mysterious event. For some reason, their powers only work when they are together, so they team up to fight crime. I don't see the Sex and the City or the Batman there. It says 'young' women, and unless the mysterious event is getting adopted by the Sultan of Brunai and falling into an immeasurable fortune, it's not very Batman either. But while the show desperately needs a new zippy one line description, it is still worth a look. Ruggiero is credited with 13 Veronica Mars scripts, so she can definitely write. Previous to Veronica she was writer/producer for That's Life.
