From the "sad and pathetic file" comes this story. There was an auction on eBay to spend an entire day with Paula Abdul ... and NOBODY bid on it. Ouch. The prize package included two first class tickets to Los Angeles, a $2,225 shopping spree and a backstage meeting with the American Idol judge. The proceeds were intended to go to multiple sclerosis charities, but the minimum asking price of $26,000 was just too much. Fox pulled the auction off eBay after four days. Why wouldn't anyone bid on that package? Besides the price, maybe it's because Paula seems A) Drunk, B) Weird, and/or C) High Maintenance. Or, maybe it's because of the false advertising. The auction said the winner would spend a day with Paula, but really it's only a backstage meeting. Sounds like something a teeager would like. A teenager without $26,000.

HONESTLY, FOR THE PRICE OF A NEW CAR $27,000 - SOMEONE IS SUPPOSED TO BID ON A DATE WITH PAULA???
I MEAN REALLY!!! NEW CAR??? ... PAULA ABDUL??? NOTHING PERSONAL PAULA, BUT THEY STARTED THAT BID WAY, WAY TOO HIGH!!! PLUS THEY PULLED THE AUCTION EARLY, IN ALL FAIRNESS TO PAULA - SOMEONE MIGHT HAVE ACTUALLY BID TOWARD THE END OF AUCTION.

I can't believe that anyone would want to spend that kind of money to meet Paula except that is was for charity.

$26,000.00??? Please, for a backstage meeting? You can fly to LA for under $400.00 and the $2225.00 shopping spree would get you nothing in LA due to the high cost of living there. Then figure in the taxes one would have to pay for the "gifts"?? See, there are intelligent people out there!!!

Let Paula's father pay for the "Day with Paula". I went to Van Nuys High School with Paula Abdul. What I remember most was how short she was, but mostly how rich her father was (he used to send a chauffered car to pick her up from school each day). Her Dad was also the sole reason she got to be a Laker Girl and he also funded her music career and her plastic surgery (you should have seen how she looked in high school!) Anyway, her father should just give the money to her charity.

$26,000.00 for a backstage visit? Even if I had that kind of money, not worth it!! Charity begins at home and unless I was going to get to keep the money as a "charity case" then I might bid.

Come on...I mean, do you really have to ask why no one bid on this date. If you look up the word "needy" in the dictionary, you will find Paula's picture next to it. Can you say "chemical dependency"??? Give me a break already...

Most people who have that kind of cash lying around are usually wealthy enough that they can meet her anytime they want...or just don't care.

Idol worship? (pun intended). Its about time our culture stops being so star struck and jumping at the opportunity to be near the rich, famous and quirky. If I am inclined to spend $26k on charity that will be personally rewarding in and of itself without the date with Paula, thank you.

$26,000.00 for a 2 minute hello, if your lucky. Nobody is that important, except Jesus or President Bush.

Maybe back in 1990 when she was hugely popular (back then I would have raised $26,000 to see her because she was my idol!) but not today. Unfortunately, she's become B-list material, at that.
