(S05E05) This was an interesting episode. It wasn't great... just interesting. The use of eminent domain as the focus for the primary case was an odd choice I thought. Not because it isn't a big issue in Florida. It is. I just thought the way they adapted it to this particular episode was a little self-serving and far-fetched. I mean, the city of Miami snatching up a whole neighborhood near the water to make strip-malls or whatever? Of course, it was all the result of dirty politics. All good reasons for Horatio to cock his head and say something brilliant.
Can we talk about the opening sequence first? Gross! But really well done. The body decaying, the hour hands flying by, the maggots, the flies, nasty. Incredibly graphic but visually stunning. I don't think I've seen an opening scene on CSI: Miami like that before. And then Alexx "pops the body" wearing her expensive suit and only rubber gloves? I know she's done it before, but what was stopping that dead guy's gut juices from launching all over her? That had to have happened once while shooting this scene. Ugh... OK, I'm done talking about it.
Few other points I wanted to talk about though. We got some foreshadowing for some of the things to come. Wolfe is developing a real temper it seems. He went as far as attacking another officer while investigating the eminent domain case. Horatio was able to get him out of it with IAD this time, but if it happens again, Stetler will probably come sniffing around. Horatio admitted, if that happens, he may not be able to help Wolfe again. So I think it's safe to assume that Wolfe will probably be involved in some sort of altercation that gets him in internal trouble. Any ideas on what?
Another thing that will probably be back? Judge Joseph Ratner. Horatio has made a serious enemy here. Sure, he bagged the judge for his involvement with the death of his illegitimate daughter. Sounds like a closed case right? Well didn't Ratner make a claim that he had a great legal mind backing him? So what's that... some sort of Johnnie Cochran-ish lawyer that might get him out of it? That could happen, and if Ratner gets back on the stand... well, don't expect Horatio's (or the rest his team's) cases to have safe passage through the judicial system anymore.
One other thing that surprised me was when Wolfe contacted Erica. She was a huge part of the problem last year regarding the mole! With Wolfe's temper, bringing her back into the fold... this is bad. I hope they're not trying to write him out of the show and have Natalia slide fully into his position. We'll see though, because she's on rocky ground too with her ex-husband still lurking around. Nick seems to be making an effort though. He delivered that evidence he found while cleaning up the scene didn't he?
Final thought. Anyone else want more info on Tripp? He's become a major player since they wrote Sofia out of the show and I feel like we know nothing about him. So... do we know anything about him?

What episode is not bad? To me, this whole show is lame and this is the last episode I am watching. The only good thing about this episode was that Delko was not around-bad actor (Adam Rodriguez), but Wolfe's no diffrent. Natalia Boa Vista character has no purpose. I am tired of all the dumb dialog, bad acting and flashy clothing that no real CSI would wear. If you want a real crime drama (besides the original CSI)with quirks, watch Dexter on Showtime. That has the best writers and good acting. Shows how Miami is. No flash here just good stories with a twist. As far as the opening sequence goes...the writers were desperate, trying to get us to watch.

if you are watching CSI:Miami for the depth of characters and good dialogue you are watching the wrong show-this is just guilty fun with all the cheesy stories, dialogue and action they can find-it is a TV cliché, wrapped in a cliché! sometimes-TV can just be mind-numbing fun!

CSI: Miami always sabotages itself with glamour. The idea that the neighborhood depicted was being seized by the local government is ridiculous. The place looked great and apparently in a favorable location. The press would have a field day covering the story.
The popping the body scene wasn't that off the mark. Alexx was gorgeous and impeccably dressed as usual but the stream of goo was easily directed just by putting it in at an angle rather than straight down. I've seen a field post-mortem on a horse handled that way.

I agree w/Mimi. The show was not like that (cheesy and stupid)in the first two seasons. It actually looked good, then they ruined it with all the actor changes, bad acting, and too much flash. They should have taken a lesson form CSI Vegas. They were #1 for a long time for a reason. Good stories. Even now, they are still #2. I stopped watching CSI:Miami after the season premier episode. Horatio and Delko were getting on my nerves too much and that bad acting was getting worse. Enough is enough! BTW: I did start watching Dexter and loved every minute of it. My new crime show :)

What was up with all the politics this time around? Nearly every scene was a diatribe on how the Supreme Court has sold its soul to big business in order screw over Americans. I mean, I have no problem with that, and I completely agree, but it just seemed out of place for a show like this. I've never seen any of the CSIs be so political. CSI: NY maybe a little, but it's always subtle. As to Wolfe, I just really dislike the character every year. Jonathan Togo is so over the top and really bad; and why is that the season long story arcs seems to revolve around him? Can't we give Calleigh and Alexx some lovin'? These two great actresses have become little more than window dressing for their over-acting male counterparts.

Here here Jimmy! I agree with you and Martina-I think the show would be better off with the death of Delko, Wolfe, and that Boa Vista gal. I would love to see the original gals-Callie and Alexx have some storylines. I really hate the Delko character-he's a bad actor!!

Wow, I think it is ironic that all the people here (minus) one hate this show and the acting, and want to kill half the cast. If you are not watching this show anymore, why are you here? If you are going to stop watching the show, just do it and stop telling us every week.
I agree with #2, this show is not like watching CSI Vegas or CSI NYC even, this is a great show to watch visually and to make fun of "H" and all his idiosyncracies. This is my "cheesy" CSI escape and I love it for those reasons. I do agree that we need more Calliegh and "Baby Girl" Alex. They are great.

I think people are still trying to give it a chance to change-hoping that the next episode will be better. I for one , don't like the show (all acting is horrible)but there is nothing on TV at that hour-so I have to put something on. I think you can say what you want about the show-whether you love it or hate it-it's good to hear people's comments and what they actually think.

No need to attack the people saying comments drew. it does not say "only fans of the show can say comments" so until it does-anyone can say what they want about the episodes they watched. No need to be a child about it.

I personally just find it odd that not only would someone sit through a show they disliked, but that the would do that week after week, and to cap it off, come here and discuss the fact that you dislike the show.
Nothing wrong with criticizing and getting all points of view. Hell I think David Caruso's acting is hilariously awful, but I love to yell at the TV "H... turn around, the person you are talking to is behind you!"... however, If I truly hated so much about the show I'd never stick around to watch it. I guess that is just me. Life it too damn short as it is.
Carry on.

I like to start off by saying that attacking people personally for their thoughts and comments is wrong-free country and all. Second, I don't see nothing "odd' about watching a show you don't really like. You may like the scenery or maybe a couple of characters but you don't have to like it all. The acting is horrible-Horatio (Caruso) and Delko (Adam Rodriguez) are pretty bad but Callie (Emily Proctor) is a dream and I tend to watch it for more of her than anything. The character Frank Tripp is also good. I enjoy the actor that plays him. The rest I could do without. So, though I don't like the show-I do enjoy those two characters and watch it for that. Rarely do you find a show that you like everything about. Although someone did speak about the new show Dexter and I can't find one thing I don't like about that show YET. So peeps relax!

"M" all i ment by my statement was that people who like the show, want to read positive things, not come on and see others trash talk it, therefore typing negative things is a waste of time, because you are just ruining it for the people who enjoy the show. if you dont like it, dont watch it, and sure as hell dont spend your time tellign others how you hated it. i appologize if i offended anyone, it was not my intention.

I stand by what I say Drew. I know maybe it was not your intention but it sure sounded that way. No need to talk in a offensive way which you did. I agree with Melanie-free country and all. if they hate some of the characters or other aspects of the show so be it. It's not the "fan club" but what you actually thought of the episode.
