(S06E03) It seems everyone's back to calling Jimmy Olson Jimmy again, though he tried to insist on James in the season premiere. Chloe tells Jimmy that she wants to take any possible relationship between the two of them slowly. Fortunately for Jimmy taking it slow quickly turns out to include french kissing. Happiness is short lived, however, when a scream leads the cub reporters to a dead body that looks likes it fell into a tree after having been dropped directly out of a J-horror movie.
Despite a hoary costume-party conceit, and yet another mock crucifixion, when Kal-El gets himself vined-up in the woods, this episode was an improvement on "Sneeze" last week.
As Jimmy and Chloe's relationship develops in the episode, Jimmy reveals a side to his character a little closer to the comic book version. He's a bit too eager, and a bit too excitable. For now, Chloe still finds it charming -- I think.
"Costumes aren't really my thing" Clark tells Martha, trying to avoid a benefit bash for victims of "Black Thursday." We know. For once, anyway, the producers get away from dressing a superhero in t-shirts based on the primary colors of his print character -- blue or red for Kal-El, orange for Aquaman last year. Oliver gets to wear any color he wants, at least until he starts superheroing, which, based on the preview, will be doing next week.
Lana's having a hard time integrating into the Lex Luthor way of life. She doesn't want to be the next "Lex girl." Chloe tells her to grow a pair -- a pair of fins that is, in a somewhat tortured metaphor about not sitting by the waterside while all the dolphins are pairing up in the aquarium or something. Not Chloe's best moment, but as she saves Clark and Jimmy and figures out how to kill the villain later, she's still awesome. Who needs superpowers when you've got Chloe on your side?
Lois meets Oliver (note to supervillains: Green Arrow is allergic to peanuts) and the best they can came up with for Lois at the costume party is a predictable Maid Marian get-up. Lex and Lana come as Caesar and Cleopatra. Oh boy. Lionel's a no show, as is Clark. Couldn't guess who Martha was dressed as. Oliver came as Robin Hood -- no getting away from that, I suppose -- and does the gentlemanly thing later, when he pretends to miss the target Lois gives him a dare.
Clark feels lonely, seeing how Chloe and Jimmy are getting on so well. And Lex even forbids him to zip all over Luthorcorp properties any more. But not to worry, Clark soon meets Park Ranger Gloria, so everyone has a dance partner -- in a manner of speaking. Or so it might have seemed, but it's a little too obvious that since Clark immediately likes her, Gloria must be the Witherer. He kills her. Poor Clark, alone again, and with the added guilt of knowing he unleashed Phantom Zone escapees on the world to boot.
The band All-American Rejects performs "It Ends Tonight" at the costume ball. Good previews for next week. In traditional comic-fashion, whenever two superheroes meet, they have to fight before they can talk.

Was that a review or a huge synopsis? You're supposed to give your opinion of the show, not describe everything that happened and put some opinions in one little measly paragraph! I'm sorry Michael but that was a verly poorly written review (even though i know i can't do better!)
And also i think you're on crack for liking this episode, i know everyone is entittled to their opinion but Wither really was a bad Smallville episode. This was an awful 'filler' episode, i know i don't expect the 'fillers' to be amazing but i at least expect them to be somewhat okay! And Wither was just horrible. The main villain was a joke and the fight was very anti-climactic and her death was way too easy and fast. Also i can't stand Lana anymore and the whole romance with Lex is a pain to watch. The only good thing was Oliver Queen's slow build-up towards being the Green Arrow, and it's pretty sweet to have two Superheroes on the same show.

I'd have to agree with Jonathan on this one. The episode was very anti-climatic. Please, please take 5 minutes from Lex/Lana sex scene (if you can call it that) at the end and add it to the battle between Clark and Gloria. Maybe Clark could've learned something about Krypton from her. It would've been a great opportunity to drop a small snippet/clue. Gloria is supposed to be a dangerous criminal to be in the phantom zone, she certainly didn't seem like it. It would've been more interesting if the electricity only hurt her instead of simply vaporizing her.

I don't agree that this was a recap, Jonathan. I gave my opinion on a lot of elements, and only mentioned those elements of the show that I had opinions on -- such as Jimmy and Chloe's budding relationship on the show, the use of costumes (or not), and the obviousness of who the villain was. As to your other beef, I can't help that you think the show sucked and I didn't. Were you just expecting confirmation of your opinion here?

I do agree with Jonathan, that Michael's Review was more of a synopsis than a review. Sure you chime in about a couple of things, but its more of a retelling than anything else.
As for the show itslef, i was disappointed. As is the case with most of the recent smallville episodes, there are a bunch of loopholes and discontinuity issue that are never dealt with. (One example for this episode....Lex never asking anyone to move in with him...Helen Bryce? Victoria ? Desiree?)
The plot itself was really lame, and the final showdown between clark and the phantom zone escapee was really quick. They need to focus more on clark than the romantic couplings that they seem to be busy making.

This was pretty much a recap of the show with very limited personal opinion added in. I wouldnt say this was the worst Smallville epispode ever. Though I do agree that Lana turned into a tottal witch. An I dont agree with the hole Lex and Lana thing but she still looks hot half naked. So those scene's still have my attention. The villian was completley weak in this episode to I do agree they should have made gloria way tuffer. This filler was a teaser though and a good one obviously if some of you guys are pissed off about the episode. Most teasers have that reaction, I dont like them that much either but it keeps me watching.
