Our fearless editor Keith hepped us bloggers to a piece in Stuff Magazine listing the best videos Beavis and Butt-Head ever watched. I'm glad he did, because I sure as hell wouldn't have read Stuff voluntarily. The piece also has links to YouTube clips of Beavis and Butt-Head providing their running commentary for videos by Pantera, Suicidal Tendencies, Gwar and Crowbar, among others. What, no "Punk Rock Girl" by the Dead Milkmen? No "Push the Little Daisies" by Ween? No "Elvis is Everywhere" by Mojo Nixon? Well anyway, if you're bummed out by the fact that the DVD releases don't include these little music video gems, the piece is worth checking out. Though I must admit when I watched Beavis and Butt-Head in high school I always wanted them to hurry up and get through the videos and back to the main story. Some of their commentaries were funny, but mostly it just felt like filler.

Yeah, I agree that the songs usually seemed like lame filler, but there were a couple that I really liked:
I don't remember which song it was, maybe The One I Love by REM? But it was after MTV had stupidly made them stop saying "fire," and when the word was sung in the song, Beavis just goes, "Woah! Heh! Heh! Woah!" I loved the subversiveness of that moment.
And who can forget Beavis' Ross Perot imitation during Whip It? "The answer is simple. When a problem comes along, you must whip it!"

i'm the opposite of you: i thought most of the shows were filler (a few were funny), and the videos were the funny part.

You guys are a little too anal-retentive to honestly get the show!! You're analyzing it like you're Siskel & Ebert or some bullshit!! It was a slackers cartoon & not some serious tv show!! It WAS NOT a melodrama or some epic piece of programming - IT WAS A CARTOON!! The story was non-linear & should be left as such!! You guys are acting like a couple of DORKS!! The premise of the ENTIRE show was circulated around the music videos!! The whole idea was that it was a show revolving around two slackers who did nothing life but get into trouble, try to score with chicks & watch music videos!! Sort of a stereotype of the normal 90's teen!! To put it simply, BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN AS LOVED AS THEY ARE TODAY WITHOUT THE VIDEOS & COMMENTARY!!
