(S04E06) Man, nothing is off limits with this show. It just keeps getting more and more bizarre. I mean it. Just when you thought Nip/Tuck had really addressed everything, it smacks you upside the face again. This week? Voyeuristic geriatrics, sexual addiction, and guilt. Lots of guilt.
First off, we have to talk about the dream sequence that opened the show. Nip/Tuck rarely has these types of scenes. They're very Sopranos-ish, no? Even though this was by far the most developed dream sequence any ep of Nip/Tuck has had yet, I'm really not sure what the point was. It doesn't seem like Christian is gay, but simply because the topic was brought up earlier in the season, it almost feels like the writers are obligated to keep reminding us that the potential exists. It's just weird at this point now.
Moving on, Dr. Wolper (Brooke Shields) is a freakin' looney-tune. Monica Wilder too. Christian and Sean really know how to pick em' huh? As far as Faith goes though, I'm surprised they've given her this storyline. I thought it was pretty much out of the blue, but Shields is a guest star, so I suppose they can do whatever they want with her. Like get "Property of Christian Troy" tattooed above her ass. Somebody's obsessed. We'll see where that takes us.
Speaking of obsessed, Monica... man, when Sean caught her breast-feeding Connor? That was beyond creepy. Clearly Sean needs to get her out of his life but short of killing her, it seems like the only way you're going to get rid of her is if something obscure happened. Like if she got hit by a bus... wait.
Oh well, it's a good way to wrap her story up and hopefully this means more Marlo. Peter Dinklage talking about severe diarrhea is comic gold.
But the creep-show didn't stop there. What doesn't count as comic gold? Larry Hagman talking about orgasms. That's just odd? Random? Disturbing? Take your pick. It's even weirder when you consider his offer. I'm actually surprised Christian agreed to get it on with Michelle while Burt watched, but this seems to be more of a sign that he truly wants Michelle. I loved the part where Burt said something and then he "swore on his fake balls."
How come there was no mention of what James and Michelle did last week though? If more people had been victims of organ theft, wouldn't that have made the news so that Sean or Christian or Liz would have heard about it?
I really like that they keep brining back Escobar as Sean's inner demon. It got me wondering though. What other characters would make for a cool return? I think Bobolit is actually back at some point. But what about Eva? Or Quentin? Or a real blast from the past like Sofia Lopez? Who would you like to see back?

So I'm guessing everytime Sean has an affair the woman has to die? Meghan O'Hara, she died from Cancer. Now Monica was hit by a bus. Wow I'm not even gonna look at a married man a plane might fall out of the sky and hit me.

That was indeed a crazy, but good episode. Sometimes though, it seems as if they try to cram too much into one episode, and keep introducing & reintroducing characters through sometimes retarded, but other times, creative ways. As for returning characters, I would like to see Bobolit come back.(I originally thought he was going to be the carver) Also, it would be cool to see Ava and Escobar reintroduced into the plot somewhere as well.

The dream Christian had was a warning for the future. In the preview for next weeks episode, it showed Christian standing over top of Burt, while looking at Michelle. Michelle was by Burts side, while Christian was looking into her eyes (I guess contemplating if he should try to save Burt) right before he was about to administer the shock to Burt. In his dream at the beginning of the episode lastnight, it was kinda the same scenario, with Sean being on the table.

This is hardly the most evolved dream sequence that this show has ever featured - remember the horrificly bad dream sequence episode when Julia walks through the plate glass door and has a whole episode dreaming about what life would be like if her and Christian had gotten together?
By this point in Television history, coming after the recent Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Big Love, Ally McBeal, dream sequences used like this are extreme cliches along with dead characters appearing to talk to real characters representing their inner thoughts, and hallucinations where characters daze out and imagine their scene partners saying something outrageous.
This season seems to be the season of the psycho babes - you knew Brooke Shields was nuts because really - what therapist would ever confront a new patient in such a harsh and bitchy manner as she did with Christian - instigating his sexual doubt. Coming after Jackie Bisset, the new evil Kimber and the crazy nanny, Shields' character was a little hard to swallow to me. And I hated the way they wrapped up Monica Wilder in such a cheap way. But luckily next week Rosie is back, and Jackie Bisset.
The best episodes always seem to be the ones that revolve a bit more about the crazy patients rather than the crazy women who want to ruin the doctor's lives.

THIS YEAR STORY LINES ARE JUST PLAIN OUT DUMB.
COME ON NOW WE ARE SUPPOSE TO THINK CHRISTIAN IS GAY,AND U KNOW MATT AND KIMBER ARE GOING TO GET TOGETHER NOW SHE HAS BEEN WITH THE WHOLE FAMILY WAIT THERE IS STILL JULIA. THE MONICA ENDING WAS TERRIBLE I RATHER HAVE SEEN SEAN DO SOMETHING TO HER BESIDES PEIRCE HER BELLY BUTTON!! THE BEST PART THIS YEAR STORY IS WITH ROSIE IN THEM. NIP TUCK NEEDS BETTER WRITERS THIS YEAR OR AT LEAST ONE WITH COMMON SENSE. BUT NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS I WILL CONTINUE TO WATCH BECAUSE IT'S LIKE A CAR CRASH U HAVE TO STOP TO SEE WHATS HAPPENING!!

I don't see why Christian's sexuality has to be an either/or situation. Why can't he be bi-sexual? It would certainly open up the plot.
I do wish they'd stop showing his ass. Mario Lopez, I could look at that all night long.

It was an ok episode to me but the highlights where gay dream sequence and Monica getting killed by a bus (I had a Mean Girls moment). Christian up to alot this season with Dr. Wolper,Michelle, James, and now Burt. Sean off sailing free married to Juilia w/o telling her about his affair with Monica.

The dream sequence didnt go over well with me... Nip/Tuck usually has a way of slipping them in without you knowing and then it hits you hard when they show you it was a dream. They use to really get to the viewers by showing the dream sequences in the previews!!!This year has been too obvious.
I havent really been a fan of the writing this year. Its been very inconsistent. I really didnt see the bus thing coming!! That was priceless... the breast feeding thing was creepy but also decent writing. However, Christian and Michelle's relationship just gets worse and worse as they are forcing this on us. Who didnt think they were going to get caught?
However, who really would have thought Brooke Shields would play a part in it?!?! That was clever! Like I said, all over the place this year.
I love how they are bringing back the characters and yes Bobolit will be back... He'll be a patient which should be very interesting :)
Nice write-up.

Did anybody else get a 'Star Trek' vibe during Christian and Michelle's love-making? An inter-racial couple being forced to be intimate in front of an audience? Certainly went farther this time around.....
