Men in Trees: Talk for Tat

men in trees(S01E05) Geez Louise, there sure was a lot of sex in that episode. A lot. Elmo was suffering from a late fall heat wave... double entendre is intended. Basically, everyone is hot and horny. Except the raccoon.

So... the big news is that Jack and Marin hooked up. A lot. In fact, their first tryst happened within the first 15 minutes of the show. So much for the sexual tension, but I think that's a good thing. I guess the writers have a good grasp on how that little storyline was going to get old soon. Although, sleeping together could just add another layer to the sexual tension between Marin and Jack. Only time will tell.

Once again, a very sweet story with Annie and Patrick. Poor Patrick is a virgin and freaks out about having sex with Annie. He darts off and then, when he gets his courage to go back to her, he gets his hand stuck in the condom dispenser in the bar bathroom. I laughed out loud as the effort to remove his hand became a project for all the men in the bar. In the end, they removed the machine from the wall and Patrick ran around Elmo with it stuck on his hand. And there was an obvious reference to Say Anything, with him holding the condom dispenser over his head as Annie looking down on him from her window.

Annie and Marin obviously still don't fit in in Elmo, Alaska. Both of them are a little pushy and super talkative about everything and, well, Elmo folks just aren't that way. They're people of few words and the big city gals with their "Where's this relationship going?" attitude kind-of rub people the wrong way. But, Marin learned in the end that silence is beneficial, too.

The Ben and Sara storyline is getting interesting. I was so glad to see Ben stand up to Teresa, who has been treating him like crap, last week. Now it seems he has moved on from her (even though they're still married) and is courting his ex-girlfriend, Sara.

I really, really like this show. I adore each and every character and their nuances. The women versus men angle of this show makes it approachable by both sexes. I just wish ABC would give it a fighting chance and move it off Friday nights. It would make a great pairing with Ugly Betty.
