(S03E03) Michael Scott may act like a knucklehead most of the time, but say this for him--he will not go down without a fight.
You just knew that sooner or later Dwight would try to undermine Michael, and Angela's influencing of him to do something about the office finally pushed him to meet clandestinely with Jan. Despite Jan's dismay over Michael's "Movie Mondays" and other offbeat practices, she must have some feelings for him at some level, because she did warn Michael about Dwight instead of looking to replace him. Obviously, their "hookup" last season must have had some effect on her.
I have to be honest--the scenes with Jim at the Stamford office are beginning to grate on me. Is every branch office at Dunder Mifflin filled with crazies? How then does the company stay in business? I think it would have been funnier if Jim ended up in an office where it's nothing but work and no play at all. The "Call of Duty" bits didn't do much for me.
I'm sure we'll eventually see Jim somehow connect with Pam and the rest of the folks at the Scranton office, but the nuttiness in Stamford seems a bit forced. Of course, there may be a romance angle there with the lady who sits behind him, so we'll see how this plays out.
We continue to see Pam coming out of her shell by dressing up and, of course, Roy shows up and comments how good she looks. He vowed in the first episode that he was going to try to win her back, but so far, he hasn't done much.
Of course, the key part of the episode was Michael's tactics in exposing Dwight for going behind his back and disloyalty. Dwight certainly thinks he has leadership skills, but it wouldn't be a stretch to say that most of the staff would head for the hills before he had a chance to fire them.
Michael wins out in the end and shames Dwight into doing his laundry for a year, among other things. I somehow get the feeling that Dwight will continue to undermine Michael, with Angela egging him on. Will Jan continue to look out for Michael and provide "advice" so that he and the rest of the staff stay afloat?

The scene with Creed and Pam may be in my top ten Office moments ever!
Pam: What?
Creed: I’m just looking.
Pam: Please go back to your desk.
Creed: In a minute.

Wouldn't be much of a comedy if they aren't all crazy...so far it looks like this office is even more crazy than his Scranton, at least they have Angela and that black guy who always seems annoyed (he needs more airtime, great deadpan) there. Even Dwight could be construed as an all work machine. They just have idiosyncrasies.
So for me, it looks like Scranton was the "all work and no play" whiie this is the exact opposite. I mean the whole relationship of Jim and Pam evolved from having nothing to do in the office.

I really love the way the writers handle the Dwight/Angela relationship. Although, after the look Angela gave Dwight at the end of this episode, who knows how much longer that's gonna last....and is it just me or, lately when we see the two interact don't they seem to be always fighting?
I don't mind the stamford office scenes, although the ones in this episode were kinda lame. And somehow I don't buy that Jim is really THAT bad at "Call of Duty", maybe he's faking it, because everyone takes the game to seriously? not sure, but that WOULD be a Jim thing to do.
I loved how hard Micheal tried to get Dwight to confess to his meeting with Jan, and I loved the instant difference in Dwight, as soon as he thought he was Manager.
All in all, I think it was a pretty good episode.

This episode was a little boring. But the two best moments were Creed and his "minute of joy" and Angela suggesting that Dwight grow a pair.

I like the other office. Rashida Jones is great and I like her little crush on Jim.

The Call of Duty part actually cracked me up... I have a friend who started at a place where they all play Battlefield (basically the same thing, for the non-nerds) on their lunch hour. At first he thought it was weird, now he's all about it - I thought it was the strangest thing I'd heard, but apparently enough people do it that the practice even gets a shout out on The Office. Awesome.

"Patience and loyalty are good virtues, but as some point you need to grow a pair." Best line of the episode.
I think part of the attraction between Dwight and Angela is the fact that they ARE arguing all the time. Not only do they enjoy the danger of participating in a "secret" office romance, but they get twisted enjoyment out of being harsh to one another. I think it's a brilliant way to portray a romance.
I felt like Karen's attraction to Jim came on too strong in this episode. A little subtly would go a long way.

I think you may be off on why jan warned michael; i got the impression that she just never wanted to have to deal with dwight one on one again, what with the pancake shoveling and all.
the call of duty stuff was hilarious "we're on teams?"... and i'm not surprised jim wasn't any good at it, he seems like more of an NBA live kinda guy.
the dwight groveling and the liar sign were great, and did anyone else think the episode was going to end with pam calling jim to tell him what he had just missed?

I liked this episode a lot. Michael showing that he isn't a total idiot, Dwight's change in personality as soon as he became manager and also the Stamford office. Sure, it is over the top that they are actually playing "Call of Duty" in teams over a long period of time. But from my time at an office I can recount sooo many things that had nothing to do with work but just wasting time. I'm absolutely sure that I could easily do what I do from 9am to 6pm in 2 hours and then go home at 11 am without any differance in outcome. And this counts for most of my co-workers as well ;)
And I loved Rashida Jones' character today. Her showing and commenting how bad Jim was at "Call of Duty" and the last scene in the episode: Very sweet! And very "Pam-like" ;) I don't care that much for Jim's other co-worker and his both, though...

I loved the interaction between Michael and Dwight right after Dwight got back from the meeting w/ Jan...
"What's his name?"
"Crentist"
"Your dentist's name is crentist?"
"Sounds a lot like dentist..."
"Maybe that's why he became a dentist."

I think even if Jan and Michael had NEVER had that hookup she would have warned him. Dwight is seriously scary. Stalking her shopping habits, his over intense manner, the way he was eating... he's the employee you make pass through a metal detector.

Oops. One more thing.
I'm getting a Pam and Jim = never vibe.
Roy and Pam seem almost possible now. Toby and Pam, I don't see that happening. But it's real life - Jim confessed to Pam, and it made her realize she had feelings for Jim, but not the same intensity as what he professed.
It seems real life-ish to me that the result of Jim's confession is that he moves on and she moves on - or her relationship with Roy gets repaired, as Roy got that great wakeup call.
Just my humble thoughts.

dammit. spain doesn´t have NBC in english. this sucks. I have watched both full seasons so far and only one episode of the new season, and I think that my favorite Office moment (at least one of them...I am definitely a Pam and Jim ¨shipper¨?) is when Michael wouldn´t let anyone go home because he put things off until the very last minute and when Toby says that people want to go home, Michael says ¨You don´t have anyone to go home to¨. The look Toby gives the camera is priceless, and although its totally cruel, it was designed to make people laugh, which was accomplished.

Some things that I found interesting.
1- Dwight is a heavy eater (and a drooler).
2- Jan maybe a shopaholic.
3- I like the idea of movie day but not much the idea for a Call of Duty day. And this coming from a Video Game Freak. Keep your game on a portable.
4- Karen is hot. (Sorry Pam fans).
Also at first I though that I saw the person who played Karen before. Then I remember that she was in 2 Chappelle Show sketches. One was te "Love Contract" sketch and the other was the hillarious "RocaPad" sketch.

Obviously we haven't seen too much at the Stamford office, but it could be a case of their employees working much harder than Scranton and then taking much needed breaks with the gaming. Still crazy, but much more intense and dedicated to the 'team'.
Scranton, OTOH, might simply be filled with a bunch of folks who just sorta 'pace' themselves all day long, and don't really work all that hard for the 8 hours they're there. No real loyalty, but they've got nowhere else to be either.

This episode was great. I am in and out of offices all the time for my job and every office is just as weird as the next. That's why this show clicks with so many people as did Office Space. You can tell that some of the writers actually spent time in mundane office jobs. This is the best show on television.

The last place I worked, people played FPS during lunch and slow periods.
I suck at FPSs so I didn't play much :)
I'm with Christian. If I can actually motivate myself for 2 hours a day, I'd get sooo much done!
