(S03E12) Another season, another reunion episode that attempts to re-ignite flames from drowned embers. Could they have been any more desperate to start shit again? Seriously. Heidi and Tim were practically begging for Keith to have an embarrassing freak-out... for Angela and Jeffrey to throttle each other's throats... for Malan to get really self-conscious about his funny little laugh and shoot somebody in the face. (Un)Fortunately, none of that happened. There was a wee bit of heated discussion, but I didn't think it really lived up to the drama the previews promised. There wasn't much substance (again, it was a reunion show), but highlights included...
- Heidi and Laura were so, so, so pregnant. Good lord. They both looked beautiful, though. Oh, and Bradley looked quite nice without his funny hair. I must admit, I missed his little beard.
- Laura revealed that she doesn't own any jeans. Her idea of "comfortable clothes" (that's jeans and sneakers, to me and you) is riding pants and boots. Wow.
- Michael has braces now? Hm.
- Keith is convinced that the producers conspired against him by putting his banned pattern books back in his room (after they were taken away at the beginning of the season). Tim jumped in to defend the producers, fighting against the very notion of them twisting the game. Oh yeah, Tim? How do you explain Vincent and Angela staying on the show so long?
- I loved the clips of Tim using big words... Studying dictionaries is so hot right now. The designer lexicon was also pretty funny... "Serious ugly" (coined by Laura), "boring" (overused by Robert), "turns me on" (disgustingly squealed by Vincent), and "?????" (random noises by Bradley).
- I desperately want a Tim Gunn painting or drawing. I have no idea what his work looks like, but I'm sure everything he touches exudes brilliance.
- Kayne is a Southern belle. A Southern belle with a freakin' motormouth.
- I think I need to download the montage of Malan's creepy laugh. Sure-fire way to kick the blues!
- Michael won the $10,000 prize after viewers voted him the fan favorite. No surprise.
- Vincent's laundry spazz-out was hysterical. Do not fuck with that man's laundry... It does not get him off and/or turn him on.
- The interruptions during the judging sessions were kind of strange. Like, when the alarm rang, I was kind of surprised to see that no one was concerned, just annoyed.
- A few of the models had fainting spells. I. Wonder. Why. C'mon, food is important, ladies. Don't forget that.
- Jeffrey plus BBQ ribs for breakfast equals DEATH.

Keith lied straight up about the books--in his podcast, Tim says that the designers were asked TWICE for their books, the second time explicitly, and Keith never said a word. If Keith thought there was a big conspiracy against him, why'd he wait until now to mention it? Keith ought to listen to the podcast; Tim was really nice to him. Tim was a lot less nice to Vincent, but given how Vincent treats the people who do his flipping laundry for him, I think I can forgive him. The whole thing was pretty dull, though--not enough alcohol! Where was our Lupe moment?

Uli said it best, you couldn't even go to the bathroom without them. So if that is the case how could the producers NOT know that Kieth had those books. They had to have known!!!

I can understand the conspiracy thing to an extent. The cameras ARE on them all the time. You would really think that someone running the show would have noticed that sooner. What with that being, you know, their job.
What really gets me, though, is that they had video footage of Keith sneaking out at night. So they KNEW he did it, but they waited until someone tattled on him to bring it up. If that sort of thing is so direly against the rules, shouldn't they have confronted Keith about it right then, rather than waiting? I'm not arguing that he broke the rules, but I do find it all a bit suspicious. I doubt they planted anything on him, but I wouldn't be surprised if they HAD known and just let him get away with it for awhile for the sake of ratings.

I work while the show is on and record it to my hard drive to watch later that evening and again later in the week. This episode I erased immediately after watching it. Embarrassing, really. And as Robert put it, BOOOOORRRRRING!

Bradley looked unrecognizable without his beard. The same went for Rob from Season 1 when he offered his input on who would win. I actually had to think a little bit to put the name to the face. I was used to his longer locks, but his new buzz looks good.
Goodness Keith, give it a rest! He even admitted in interviews with mags that he used the patternmaking books while at Atlas to work on his own personal mens collection, so he can't say that he never touched them, let alone that they were taken away and put back. Even if they were put back, he should have said something to production just to clear his name. Just because they're there doesn't mean it's okay to use them. Katherine said on her blog that production was really serious about not having any books. They took her little paperback crossword puzzle book!
Vincent is crazy, and I think his little defense about him calling the other designers amateurs was our Lupe moment this season. Everyone was confused, including Vincent himself.
As for next week, I can't wait. I loved Laura's little quip about putting out a line of kids.

I think that the way Jeffrey was treated by Angela's mom was just outrageous!!!I think if she was going to tell him how she felt she had every opportunity to do so...I am overweight also and at times it does take someone else to see the beauty in you that you may not see...She told Jeffrey after Tim left where she was that she didn't want to tell him and then she said she would have told him what she told Tim...She told Tim and she told Angela but she never told the designer it really matters to which is Jeffrey...He was the designer she had and that's who she should have talked to...My only other comment is Jeffrey could have handled it better... Now it's questionable Jeffrey had help with his garments. We can see he has some great ideas alot of his designs are fab. What I would suggest is to have him make his white pants over.See if his top stiching is the same.If he had help he should be sent home. They better make sure.It would be a shame if they were wrong.
