(S05E03) 100 episodes... quite the milestone for any show. And how does CSI: Miami celebrate? By having Omar Gooding guest star. If that doesn't say milestone, I don't know what does.
All in all, it was pretty good episode. A solid story and the writers definitely played up the "100 Episodes" thing. Just look at the title. But a lot of advances were made. The tension between Wolfe and Natalia seems to be cooling off as she learns all the tricks of being a CSI. For whatever reason though, Wolfe is still very much against Natalia's promotion and I'm starting to think there's more to it than the fact that Natalia was the mole in the lab last season. I wonder if they're still romantically involved. They did get together for a portion of last season... right?
Calleigh seems to have grown up a little too. During this episode, a counterfeiting ring was uncovered (I feel like we get one of these every other episode), and Calleigh called in her friend Peter from the Treasury Department. If you recall from last season, Calleigh was angered to find out that Peter had gotten engaged to that D.A. who hated Horatio and the lab. Remember how she tried to set the lab up by stealing those counterfeit bills (they're everywhere in Miami apparently)? Calleigh and Peter set her up in the end. So maybe Peter and Calleigh may have a future again after all.
Another thing I noticed was how Cooper made himself vital to the case again. Last week he was out in the field helping Delko and this week he pulled some key information from a 911 tape for Calleigh. She told him he'd get recognition for it. I'm telling you, I still predict by the time this season is over, Cooper is a CSI. It's gonna happen, I can feel it. It's the same story arc that Eric followed in Vegas.
The ending bugged me a bit though. I liked how they had everyone meet up on the beach and walk off into the sunset and I liked how Horatio shared a few words of wisdom. You know, that line about how "we know better." But am I the only one who though it seemed weird when no one mentioned Speedle? No one said anything along the lines of "I wish Tim could have been here for this." That seemed out of place to me. Alexx was so close to Speed and there wasn't a word. It's been two seasons since Speed got shot though. I dunno, maybe it isn't all that important. Just felt like something was missing.

Does anyone know the name of the track being played over the end montage (the one with all the freeze frame black and white photos)?

i expected this to be better. the whole episode to me felt like the serise finale, not the 100th episode! ... i dunno, i found it really boring.... not what i expected it to be, thats 4 sure.. and what was up with the whole "law and order" thing at the end, where they all walked side by side along the beach?.. i thought that was a rip off.. anyway, csi miami, still my favorite show

Why did they all meet up on the beach? Do they regularly just hang around there after work for a few minutes for no apparent reason?
And what's with all the weird visual effects on shots this year with the dodgy split screens and fades and overlays? It looks like someone's got some new gear and is playing around with it in editing.
Miami is just laughable now and not in a good way anymore.
Is Horatio a CSI or a detective? He never does anything apart from stand side on to everything, tell people to do things and then walk out of shot whilst putting his glasses on having just spouted some cliched line which in the context of any real conversation would have people wondering what the hell he was talking about and who he was talking to since he's always looking off camera at something.
