(S03E02) Okay, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I don't think Orson killed his wife. What do you think? I mean, seriously, he may be clean in a creepy way-- but so is Bree. The woman's body was not his missing wife's-- though he clearly knew the woman, based on his saying something to her and calling her "Monique" as he left the morgue. So, is this another missing wife? Maybe, but we don't know that.
What do we know? Orson hit Mike with a car. Alma's parrot said, "No, Orson, no." Alma disappeared. Orson scrubbed the house with bleach. Laurie Metcalf is suspicious. And the woman's body was missing all her teeth-- and Orson is a dentist. None of that means anything. It's all circumstantial. None of that means that Orson is a murderer. But I think the writers are having a pretty good time setting up this trail of creepiness and placing Orson on it. And I'll admit that I'm having a pretty good time watching it.
The most hilarious part of this episode, though, of course, was when Gabrielle's and Carlos's baby was born... African American. Turns out Xiao Mei was implanted with the wrong embryo and theirs? Well, theirs didn't take. But of course, they'll end up getting back together now and will probably end up having a biological child. That is my prediction. Any takers?
I'm getting really sick of the Lynette/Tom/Nora storyline-- I wish Lynette would actually just become friends with her. I think the actress who plays Nora is terrific and that the character is actually pretty well-drawn, considering that she could be played as just a really obnoxious woman. But she obviously likes Lynette, and she may not be what Lynette wants in a friend, but she's a human being, and she is apparently not going away. Unless they can convince Orson to get rid of her.
You know, the writers are dancing as fast as they can to make Orson seem like a creepy killer, but is anybody else the least bit concerned about the charming Ian who lies to his wife's parents and tells them Susan is their daughter's new doctor and then won't take no for an answer when she tells him they can't date, and stalks her by showing up at the wedding, makes an inappropriate toast to try to connive her into dating him? The guy may be greatlooking (I love Dougray Scott) and charming and seem like a really swell and nice and romantic guy, but I think that he's the one we really need to be worried about. Not Orson.

FWIW, when Orson was leaving the morgue, he said "Tu me manques, Monique" which means I miss you, Monique in French.

Umm, the baby was born black, not African American. If you're born in this country, even in the land of make believe, you are an American, not a hyphenated-American.
Just as having Irish ancestory in my genepool doesn't make me Irish, being black doesn't instantly make someone African.
Aside from that, who didn't expect the baby belonging to two Mexicans, carried in the body of an Asian, wouldn't come out black? That twist was as obvious as the body not being Alma's.

Jaymez,
On behalf on African Americans everywhere, thanks so much for defining who we are. We so wanted clarification from some white person. We just couldn't be counted on to do it for ourselves.
Do you even get how insulting it is to be defined by some one else?

whatever....back to the show:
both Susan and Bree have had back luck with men recently so it should be fun to see who crashes and burns first.
Not so crazy about Edie's nephew just showing up. Seems like an obvious tug at the teen market. Julie's growing up nicely tho and seems to have a mind of her own (despite her parents :) )

Hmm that baby delivery scene with Xiao Mei reminded me strangely the one from nip/tuck in season 1

Just to insert a slight bit of a reality check into the baby scene. Most babies of African heritage do not have skin color which is that dark at birth. In almost all cases they are MUCH lighter for the first 24-36 hours at least.

lol i don't doubt that's true, Chessie, but babies in the first 24-36 hours don't get hired for TV shows...plus, it's desperate housewives; there's no room for reality in this show

Chessie, I was thinking the same thing about how dark the newborn baby was; very unrealistic. Anyway, I'm confused. So, are they not keeping the baby because he/she is black??? I definitely did not like the tone of that implication last night. Now what happens to the baby? Seemed a little biased to me. I think another story line would have worked much better.

I find it amazing how Susan, and Bree find "love" so quickly! I am still waiting for an episode where Rex is grieved properly. They NEVER had one person shed one tear for the guy! Bree went from him to George, (the psycho), to her AA sponsor, and whoever else in between. What happened to her squeaky clan character?Tom gives the dumb toast at the wedding, yet, to my knowledge they are complete strangers. Where were Orson's original friends? Unfortunately, the show has just become too "slap stick", almost like Woddy Allen movie. I was always led to belive that it was supossed to more of a soap/drama, not a comedy. Hopefully, it will pick up some real drama. Enough of the sillinees. There are plenty of sit-coms on already

I don't think they had any claim to the baby. The clinic made an error and the wrong surrogate was impregnanted (or in the Soleis' case, not impregnanted). The baby Xiao Mei gave birth to would still go to his/her biological parents.

This whole thing about some baby being black is bogus. If they were really in it just to have a baby to love then it wouldn't matter what color it is...look at Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, they've got 2 kids that could in no way shape or form have ever come from either one of them. You don't see them crying about skin pigmentation. It should not surprise you even in this 21st century that television is still racist, it should piss you off, but you shouldn't be surprised. We're still pimping immigrants and bullying smaller countries, it's no wonder that the citizens of America who are not "the majority" still get the shaft.

Barbie,
The couple whose embryo the baby originally was will raise their baby-- that is why Carlos and Gabrielle could not keep the baby. They then asked if the other couple had been implanted with their embryo and were told that their embryo had not been viable. So, I think they would have kept the baby if they could have, but the parents wanted their baby!

I don't think they could keep the baby even if they wanted to. Some other couple is probably out there trying to have a baby, and will be thrilled that one of their embryo's took, even if it was in another body...and without their knowledge...man, Desperate Housewives really is wierd.
and awesome.

To Simone....11th entry. Think you missed the whole point. Has nothing to do with what you said. Dont you find it a little curious as to why the baby wasnt paired with either "parent?." Of course they have a right to know the backround. Would've been the same reaction had the baby been white, indian, etc. As neither of the parents are. And, Jolies kids were adopted by total strangers, and neither her or Brad were the bilogical parent, so, that's pretty much a no brainer. If one of them had been the natural parent, they would've had the same reaction, just like anyone else in the world would. Maybe I am missing something, but, I just didnt pick up on racism at all.If Im wrong, then I stand corrected.
Also, think in this day and age we've all pretty much established if you were born in this country you are AMERICAN. One's backround, and/ethnics/nationality has nothing to do with where you were born. If you were born in the US of A.......than thats what you are, American, then the proper nationality, religion, etc to follow. As to all the "african american" I just dont get it. My children, hubby, and myself (all born here) are Italian and Irish. Shall we start saying we are European Ireland American? No, we are all American, of italian and irish nationalities. (Damn, I will be humiliated if this doesnt make any sense)...the hell with it, I'm sending it anyway. If I'm wrong, someone.....please, educate me!!!!
Thanks,
Marie

ok, I think some of these comments are getting out of hand. If Whites don't get offended by calling our race caucasion, then why do blacks get offended by saying african-american. thats what the race is! live with it.

I think its interesting how everyone is willing to get into an argument about race when that really wasn't the point of the show. Carlos and Gabby can't keep the baby because they don't have the right to. It's someone else's baby, and they want to be able to raise it. The baby being black, or African American, or whatever the politically correct term is today, was just part of the episode so they didn't end up raising the kid and then finding out later that it wasn't theirs. Although that would have been pretty interesting, it would have been too much like the situation w/ Lily.
I think the whole theory with Ian is interesting, I honestly never thought to suspect him of anything. I think Susan should still wait for Mike, tho. She moved on kinda quickly. The scene w/ the wedding toasts was so typically Susan, too. Poor Bree, her wedding was pretty messed up (um...did you kill your wife?) and I'm sure she expected it to be perfect. I loved her dress tho, and the bridesmades dresses were pretty (the second batch.)

On a positive note, I WONDER if Orson really killed his 1st wife? I also heard, in "real life", Bree is pregnant.
