"And before you accuse me of writing about news in your favorite entertainment magazine, let me assure you Nancy Grace is entertainment...if, that is, you're the sort who watches NASCAR for the crashes and Survivor hoping no one will. In the increasingly weird world of infotainment, she is the belle of the Freakers Ball...[Grace] conveys by body language alone the idea that we're all guilty of something...and she knows it."
Bravo, Mr. King. He goes on to talk about the recent case involving the disappearance of Trenton Duckett. Grace had his mother on her show and pretty much hammered her about her whereabouts that day, and Duckett wouldn't say (as King points out, her lawyer told her not to, duh). And when Grace and CNN found out that she had killed herself earlier that day did they decide to not run it? Of course not, they ran it anyway.

"Belle of the Freakers Ball" is a great description of Grace. King can still turn a phrase.

I agree! It is horrifying to think that the star of an info-tainment show can do a better job of questioning a witness/suspect than the local police. It is terrifying that child abductions and murders have become so commonplace that it is more entertaining to write about the back story. Even more frightening to consider is this - the bailiff walks you slowly into a courtroom. You notice Nancy Grace seated dramatically at one table. Suddenly, you are seated next to her, only to discover that the opposing lawyer is Attorney-Gone-Wild, Geraldo Rivera. Startled by the judge's gavel, you realize it was a day-dream. Geraldo isn't a prosecutor... he's actually your lawyer, Nancy's at the other table. "Someone call maintenance, there's been an accident at the table for the defense!"

Well, gee...so what if she is hard on people. Melinda Duckett deserved that grilling, and it's not N.G.'s fault that she took the cowardly way out instead of telling where she dumped that baby.
She didn't have a lawyer, either, and the police have confirmed that NOONE told her NOT to talk to the media.
The short and long of it? She didn't want to answer questions because she couldn't think of the answers fast enough. World's better without people like her.

Despite how much she would like it, Nancy Grace is not judge and jury -- judges and juries are. Her vigilante justice is reminiscent of a less civilized time. And despite how good it may feel to some of you -- commenter Toni, I'm looking at you -- someone's death is never something to cheer about. It seems like the people who profess to care so much about "justice" are the ones who care the least about humanity, compassion and fairness.

I pray that no one ever gets on Nancy Grace's bad side because she will have tried, judged, convicted and executed even before your trial date begins.
I agree with the poster who said Stephen King should write a book based on her, that would be cool!

As good a host that Nancy Grace is, I think that she can get quite annoying on some nights. Namely on Wednesday and Thursday. Those days, she talks right over the hosts, not letting them get a chance to speak. Too much overlap! I don't know how much of a headache those producers in that CNN studio have on those nights. I think that her ranting, in-your-face kind of style makes the show watchable, but she needs to calm down on more sensitive subjects.

Who made Nancy Grace and Toni (the previouse poster) judge, jury and executioner? Even if she is solely responsible for Trenton disappearance or even death she is an American citizen and is due her day in court. Who knows why or what she did? She could be like Andre Yates and suffer from post partum depression. Nancy is too quick to pass judgement. Now we will never know what happend to Trenton.

Toni: Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Or would you rather live in the kind of country where the government just decides a person is guilty and then treats them accordingly without proof? Nancy Grace isn't with the police, and essentially, she botched their investigation for them by pushing their one real witness too far. Putting aside any questions of humanity, fairness, and compassion entirely (which, IMO, is a dangerous thing to do), she's lucky she isn't on the hook for interfering with an investigation.

Nancy Grace comes from a place where only the bitter and cynical are born. You see, they're such small people inside themselves that they have to make everyone else look smaller as well so that they can feel just a little bit taller and a little bit stronger about their own pathetic existence. Fire her 100%.

“Nancy Grace Under Fire” article on the Right-Side-Of-The-Road website
http://www.rightsideoftheroad.com/?p=396
slams Nancy for her documented unprofessional, and possibly illegal, attacks against Melinda Duckett. The article cites a similar case of a Wrongful Death suit about eleven years ago involving Jenny Jones who was also on the CNN network during her fiasco that resulted in a similar death of a guest on her show. While the actual methods of death are varied slightly, that Jones case concluded some liability to CNN for instigating what ultimately turned into a death. If you eliminate the conduct of the Jone’s show, that death in that case would likely not have occurred. Same holds true in the Duckett case. If you eliminate the violations that Nancy Grace and CNN were involved regarding the purpose/actions of the telephone interview when Nancy Grace called Melinda, then Melinda would likely be alive today. The court awarded the Plaintiff’s a victory in the Jones case. That award against CNN/Jones was more than $25 million dollars in that case. And, that show never even aired the taped episode. In addition to funeral expenses of $6,500, jurors in that case awarded $5 million in damages for victim's suffering before the victim died, $10 million to the family for the loss of the victim’s companionship and $10 million for the loss of money the victim would have earned. Much the same results are suspected in the latest lawsuit filed against Nancy Grace. Perhaps, and very likely, CNN and Nancy Grace will settle out of court for some undisclosed amount prior to court, as most of the suits against CNN and Nancy Grace are handled. Aspects of a legal connection for a possible criminal charge(s) are still suspected to be on-going at this date.
